If BL depends upon Martin this year, GOD BLESS THEM. I sure hope he steps up A LOT more than he did last year. he was good against teams like SF, but when you put him against teams like SV even P-Burg, he shuts down, a good ball player doesn't do that. Although i give Maldonado credit he improved 100% from the time the season started last year, up until it ended.

In 3 games against SV he had about 28 or so. BL got beat by like 85 combined in 2 of those. Martin is a pretty good player though. Should be a Top 5 player in the district next year.

Get your facts straight..he did start varsity several times until parents of players(with no talent and that felt threatened their position was going to a better player) jumped the coach!:dontthink

Are you sure? It's been told, that Hamilton and Hall will be staying back, don't know if they will or not. If they do they can't play any HS sports. Henson and Newsome is playing baseball for BL, i do believe. But, it's untelling where Henson will land, have to wait until school starts to find out. And Daniels is not at BL anymore.

The big question is this. Who will be coaching BL next year? At the regional tournament, it was said that he had already told everyone that he was not coming back.

Tyler R will not leave Pike Central and go to Betsy Layne. He has a good year ahead of him at Pike Central

I'm pretty sure Coach Newsome is still coaching fr Betsy Layne.

Newsome will be the coach this year, but I hear he may be getting a new/old assistant that will take over for him the following year. Anyone heard this? They were seen sitting together at the regional tournament this year.

Tyler R. is going to Betsy Layne next yr. He will be playing TE in football which is a position that he has been brought up to play ever since pee-wee football. Some of the greatest hands I've seen on a high school athlete. I hear that Jr. will coach for at least till Nathn Martin graduates. 2 more years...

I like this prediction and I'll have to agree. Martin is really one of the more underrated players in the 15th Region.

Just a prediction but a confident perdiction...They have the athletes but not sure about competing with teams like SV this year any way...Thats not to say there not going to be able too. Its still very earley to say. I know the Bobcats will start there summer camps starting at Morehead St. next weekend then 3more camps I believe those will be local...GOBOBCATSGO

Betsy Layne looked good in the 1st day of Pikeville Coolege Basketball Team Camp with wins over Sheldon Clark by 6 and over Belfry by 20...The Bobcats play tomorrow with a little sched. change 1st game at 7pm against Haysi and 2nd game at 9pm against Burch...Nathan looked good with his added runner/floater shot...Boys looked fast up down the court...

Im glad Mullins got themselves a new gym. Their coach Brandon Kidd is a good friend of mind. Went to Grade School together and went to Pikeville College as well.
