April 10, 2009

I started off the day fishing at Dewey Lake (Prestonsburg) and had some success on catching some largemouth bass with a white 1/16 white rooster tail, but none where keepers. Moved to the Dewey's tailwaters (Spillway) and caught a few rainbow trout on the same rooster tail.

April 11, 2009

A day after the storm that rolled through the state, Dewey Lake was up around 2-3 feet and was real murky, not real muddy, but water conditions where terrible for a reasonably nice day. Started off at the Spillway to catch some more trout, had no luck, then moved to the lake and didn't even get a bite. I used the same 1/16 white rooster tail I used the day before as well.

April 5, 09.

Went to Fish Trap. Caught a lot of Crappie using a Minnow on a Blue Crappie Jig. And we also caught a couple Bass. No size to them but they were still Bass.

The conditions were great(warm and sunny). But, toward the end of the day the wind began to pick up.

April 25, 2009.

Went fishing at Fish Trap at around 2:00p.m. till about 7:30p.m. Used a worm and fished around the bottom and then I went to a top water bait and got a few fish to look at it. But, never would take it.

Today I just think it was to hot to fish. I don't really know though? But, at one time I seen that the water was around about 70 degrees.

Anyone else have any trouble?

Went to Fishtrap this morning,6am to noon. Caught 8 total, with 3 of them being keepers. The warmest that I seen the water was 63, but I fished close to the dam, the furthest that I went was Hurricane Creek. Seen some real nice bass mated-up and swimming together, but none on the beds. I'd say by next weekend it will be like going to the candystore. Speaking of next weekend I'm going to Dale Hollow if nothing happens. Hey Perfect maybe we should meet up sometime on the Trap.

Went to Dale Hollow Friday night. Sat at daybreak it was pouring the rain, eased up about 7:30. Water temp 63 to 65. No fish on beds, water was up in the trees. The fish were holding real tight to cover, I mean right inside the bushes. Rained all day, ended up boating 2 fish, 1 1-2 pound, 1 2-3 pound, had one right beside the boat and it threw the hook, solid 5 pounder. I fished down in the Tenn. part, Roberts Hollow to be exact. Did not even go out Sunday morning. Probably should have went up in the head of Sulfur Creek and fished there, I'd say that they are getting ready if not already on the bed there. GOOD LUCK VILLE!!! Oh, I was pitching Sweet Beavers.

Well thats what I caught them on, and missed 5or 6. It was slow more like they were just knibbling on the bait instead of inhaling it Probably why I missed so many. Sulfur is where I would go next weekend, and I wouldcheck out Huffakre branch, and Illwill Creek. The water is still to cool down in the Tenn part of the lake

Well the water was murky from all of the rain, and the Tenn. water temp was any where from 2 to 7 degrees cooler than where I put in at Dale Hollow State Park. The warmer temps were in the heads of the creeks. When I got out of the water it was 65.9 at DHSP Sat. evening late. Dude be sure to let us know how your trip went.

I know someone who caught a nice one. Smile

I went out with a couple buddies on Saturday and we caught around twelve largemouth. There were two keepers in the bunch.

We got out on the lake around 10 a.m.
Scattered thunderstorms rolled through around 3 p.m. as we were leaving. Seems like the fish were not deep in the hollers, but were about halfway between the points and the mouths of the hollers.

Hopefully, I will be headed back out soon.

May 24, 2009.

Put the boat in at Dewey at about 6:00 p.m. Fished till about 9:30 p.m. The water temperature was around 75 to 80 degrees. Caught about 4 Bass. No keepers. The water was very dirty. Caught these fish off a Night Crawler and Black and Purple Power Bait Worm.

Fished a tourny at Fishtrap and won. I was the only one to catch a keeper. Didnt even weigh it but it was 17" long. Water temp, 74 degrees. Water was fairly clear. Tough day on the Trap. Guess that its time to start tubing the rivers.
