Oaks/Derby
#1
Everyone getting a little revved up about this weekend? The best week in horse racing.

A side note that makes it special and more exciting for us here in Eastern KY......The Kentucky Oaks favorite, Rachel Alexandra, is part owned by a neighbor of mine here in Paintsville. She has been absolutely dominating her races this year against the girls and at once was possibly being considered to run against the boys in the Derby.

Rachel Alexandra is an amazing filly! She should dominate the Oaks!

In the Derby I really like I Want Revenge, Frisean Fire and Pioneerof the Nile... But I think there's quite a few horses with a big shot this year if those three don't run their races. I really hope General Quarters does good because of his owner/trainer.

Tom McCarthy's story is awesome with General Quarters.
Rite now, I like Pioneer the best so far.

Rachel Alexandra romped in the Oaks... she won by over 20 lengths and Calvin still had a hold on her. I believe she could have beat the boys in the Derby.

That was an impressive performance for sure. I think she would win the derby, too. Is there any chance she runs in the preakness or belmont?

50-1 Mind that Bird wins the Kentucky Derby.

She is being pointed to the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes on the June 6 Belmont Stakes undercard, trainer Hal Wiggins said Saturday morning.

That was crazy... the cheapeast yearling and 50-1 morning line. Calvin Borel had a great weekend at Churchill winning both the Oaks and Derby and quite a few races on the undercard as well.

Friesan Fire was stepped on coming out the gate. He came back to the unsaddling area with blood emanating from his left front foot. He had part of his left front foot ripped off, known as grabbing a quarter.
