Will the joke end up being on Barnhart?
#1
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/s...ortCat=ncb

And on April Fool's Day, Mitch Barnhart will introduce John Calipari as the basketball coach at Kentucky.

This is the show-stopping conclusion to a two-year running prank Barnhart has been playing on the populace, showing what a wacky jokester the publicly bland athletic director really is.

Seriously, see if this isn't short-sheet-the-bed hilarious: In two years, Kentucky has gone from paying national championship-winning coach Tubby Smith $2.1 million a year to reportedly forking over $31.65 million plus incentives over eight years for a coach with less bling on his finger and more bones in his closet.

Nope, the joke will be on Rick Pitino and the Louisville Cardinals. The cards def will go back to little brother status. lol Rick looked upset yesterday, that Coach Cal got the call and not him haha :flame:

Don't be scared Deuce, your coach only has one bling on his finger and yes, it's from the University of Kentucky and after I watched him screwed his team by not playing man-man defense. he will not win anymore

I read the article, and yes the joke could end up on barnhart, but pretty much every coach does what Calipari does.

I think that Mitch found the right guy for the job.

That's the biggest joke I've ever read.... :thatsfunn

And just so everyone knows, I think UK made the right hire. Calipari is the perfect guy for the job, IMO.

Yeah The joke isnt on the cardinals....I dont believe that cal is a coach like Pitino.... and still see the cards beating them next year:notworthy :1:

He has coached in the C-USA not the SEC....and I dont see me been ashamed of Pitino

I'm not worried about Calipari's relationship with William Wesley (Worldwide Wes) at all. He doesn't go out and recruit players for Cal. Players come to him for advice and he tells them that Cal sends his players to the NBA within' their first two seasons, something every kid coming out of high school wants to do, and that's goto the NBA.

Like most say, "It helps to know people", in this case it helps Wesley to know Calipari and vice versa.

Actually here is a good counter article, with no negativity....

Right now, this moment, with no new recruits. UL could beat UK and would have to be favored.

If Henry, Wall, and/or Cousins gets on board it could potentially be very, very ugly in both Football and Basketball for the Cards.
#13
"Worldwide Wuss" won't have a run of the place at UK like he did at Memphis.

Pat Forde wrote the article for ESPN.
Typical Forde.
He has been a UK basher since his days at the Louisville Courier Journal.

Is anyone old enough to remember his days there?
Forde is typical UL sour grapes "little brother"

How do you see the Football game between UK and UL this year??? \

I see both teams eating Cardinals for lunch... Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

As long as John Wall comes to Kentucky, Kentucky will most likely win. With Wall, Cousins, Orton, Hood, Patterson, Meeks, & Co., It will get very, very ugly for UofL..

Right... Since Louisville is getting no recruits next season...

Who exactly is returning to Louisville next season?

Williams and McGee are graduating. Earl Clark will likely enter the draft, as well as Samuels. Who does that leave for the Cards next year? Louisville has a couple of nice recruits coming in with Peyton Siva and Rakeem Buckles (which you probably weren't aware of). Who is going to step up for Louisville and beat Cal's Cats?

Not sure where you got your info, but Samuels isn't leaving. Sosa, Smith, Knowles, Delk, Jennings, Goode, Kuric, and Swopshire will all be back. Then you can can throw in the recruits...

Never said Samuels would leave, I just said the possibility was out there. Sosa, Smith, and Preston Knowles are proven and can play. What about Jennings, Goode, and Kuric? Not sure on what they can do yet.

Louisville will be a top 25 team next year, don't get me wrong. If all goes well for Kentucky with the recruiting situations, I like Kentucky beating Louisville at home next year though.

IMO, Jennings will give Samuels a run for his money for the starting job... Terrance did an excellent job off the bench, both on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. He's a 4-year guy that will only get better. You can add him to the proven list. Either one could be the starting guy and Louisville would excel.

Goode will see the extra minutes after Samuels and Jennings, but is more than efficient, especially on the defensive end.

Kuric will be the best shooter on the team, if he gets the minutes.

At this point, you have to go with what both teams already have, and what we know they're going to have next season FOR SURE. I wouldn't be so quick to pull the trigger on UK beating UL or anyone for that matter next season, until we know IF any of Cal's recruits will follow him.

You are right, that's only fair. At this point, the game is a toss-up IMO, being in Lexington.

I'll even give the edge to UK... IMO the home team in this rivalry always has the advantage. But we all know rankings and all that jazz go out the window when these two get together.

Well since UK isn't losing anyone and will be bringing in some very good recruits and UL is losing ALOT, I say Uk will and should have the edge next year for sure. You're forgetting that UL only won by a buzzer beater this year. So if I were to bet on this one.. i would say that Calipari and the wildcats will run UL outta town!!

DeuceUL Wrote:Right... Since Louisville is getting no recruits next season...

Right...since UL isn't losing their star TWill, their best defensive player McGee, and probably their best athlete in Earl Clark to the draft.

Right now UL's recruiting class makes up the loss of those players despite UK (by all intensive purposes) returning everyone. Once you figure in one or more program changers like a Wall, Cousins, or Henry, the balance QUICKLY shifts in UK's favor.

Siva and Buckles are top tier recruits, but there is a drastic difference between them and "one and done" type guys like Cousins, Henry, and Wall. To be honest Siva and Buckles probably cancel out Hood and Orton, but for sake of arguement and the uncertainty of Orton,I will assume they are a positive for UL in the matchup instead.

UK may win, but it wouldnt get ugly. UL is still going to be a top 20 team.

To be fair, Earl Clark didn't do anything in the UK game this past year, and Preston Knowles is just as good, if not better than Andre McGee defensively...

And again, nobody knows for sure if Cousins, Wall, or Henry will go to UK. If that happens, then UK would get the advantage. That's why I said we should wait until we know exactly who each team will have before we go making bold predictions.

Which is precisely why I stated in my original post that without those guys UL would be the favorite.. yet that still received a very sarcastic "right....."
