Mason County vs. Shelby Valley (1st Round Sweet 16)
Experience, experience, experience. At Rupp, Mason has plenty, SV, not so much. If the bright lights and big stage get to Valley, could get ugly. I'm pulling for Valley, so that EC can prove on the biggest high school basketball stage in the country that the first game was a fluke.

Actually, Instant Offense showed that between these two groups, not counting years like the 1980's, but just for the Seniors on these teams, Valley is more experienced at Rupp than Mason.

Even if both teams win the first game and Elliott beats SV, that will not prove the 1st game was a fluke. Who's to say the 2nd game wasn't the fluke?

Also, Mason may very well beat Valley, but I can't see the game getting ugly.
I will go with Valley aginst the defending state champs!
Valley by 3
valley by 10+,size does matter and they have the most underrated pt.guard in the state.watch and be amazed.mc will not take sv serious and that will be a big mistake.go ahead guys and talk mc up,thats just what we want to happen.

thats a first....lol.....:eyeroll:
Dating back to 2006 (these seniors would've been freshman)...Shelby Valley has played 1 game (beaten by Elliot)and Mason Co. has played 6 games including a state championship. That's quite an experience difference IMO.

You read to far into it, Shelby Valley has played many pre season games at Rupp, more than Mason, Valley has more experience at Rupp.
In actual game experience Mason Co. has more experience...besides, if SV played a scrimmage down at Rupp each of those 4 years (KBA sponsored) then that would only make 5 games for them compared to 6 still for Mason if they didn't play any.
Instant Offense showed Valley has more experience, it's in a recent thread.
This should be the best 1st round game in Rupp.Mason has a ton of experince playing in the state tournament over the last 8 years as a matter of fact 6 of those 8.

Looks like Valley has a slight advantage in size and points per game individually, but Mason County has played better competition.

Another interesting fact is Valley nearly has 200 more steals than Mason County who also likes to press.

Interesting information BCA. This really shows how great of a matchup this is. The team steals stat is what sticks out in my mind. Seems to me that maybe Shelby Valley uses their full-court press more often throughout the course of a game than Mason County. I have seen Valley multiple times this season and they use their press frequently and it is very effective. I haven't seen Mason County in person this season but I have heard good things about their press defense as well.

Has anyone seen both teams in action this season? If so, which team used the full-court press more often during the time you watched.

I have to agree outdoorsman43. Valley just has to good of a full court D-fence.
This will be NO contest. Mason will win easily!

That is interesting... everyone has told me all year that Justice is around 5'8" to 5'9", this changes my perspective of him matching up with the taller guards a lot.

Seeing your posts lead me to believe you have no basketball knowledge at all and that you just like to go against other people on here...Your past predictions prove my theory correct!

I have more bb knowledge in the side of my brain not used for thinking than you ever thought about having. It's fun and easy to aggravate you SV fans since all you have to do is talk about how great SV is. It's nothing personal against SV or the kids that play for them. It's how you folks go on and on about this team. I just can't help but to go against you. And by the way I never thought of basketball predictions as a THEORY process. I always pick the other team when SV plays, it's no theroy.:lmao:

But I must say in this case, I do believe Mason will win the game rather easily. GO MASON!:Cheerlead

Logan Bryant is about 5'8 and Justice probably 5'9 maybe 5'10 at best.
I agree Zulu. Mason Co. Easily.

I'm 6'1, Elisha is maybe 2 inches shorter than me, I'd say he's closer to 6'0 than 5'11.

this goes to prove that no one likes a winner but shelby valley fans do go wildcats
What seems to be a semi-final game is a first round match up.
Should be a great game.
Goodluck to both teams.

I have yet to see that thread, I may be wrong....I was just referring to the name across the chest playing on Rupp..not individual players themselves.

Zulu, you remind me of the bubble boy from the show Sienfeld!!!:thatsfunn

That's what I'm saying, the SV boys played on the EKY Lightning for a while, they could have very well played at Rupp then too.
Creeker Wrote:Just asking cause I honestly don't know, but who has Shelby Valley played that has a good size guard?

the faulkner twins for elliot county are both 6'2.

Still offering the same bet Zulu, one week without posting? You keep making your statements but you wont do anything to back them up.

zulu Wrote:Yeah and I'm 10'2
Geez, and I thought at 7 foot I was the biggest on here...

Mason might win this matchup, but it wont be a "easy" game for them.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.
mama cat Wrote:Of course I will predict that our precious Wildcats will win and I would hope that people from Mason County would predict their team to win. These are just games and anything could happen. I am asking everyone to please pray with me that all of the teams will play to their best potential and that no one will get hurt. Also, please pray that God will keep us all safe as we travel and help us to show good sportsmanship, win or lose. This is a lot of pressure on these young men. Let's encourage them all because they have worked hard to get to where they are at and deserve everyone's respect!
I love my Shelby Valley Wildcats!!!!!!! Even if you never won another game in your life, you are all winners in God's eyes and to everyone who knows you!!!!!! Good Luck to ALL teams!!!!!!

Great Post:Thumbs:
Here's my take...

I think all things being equal, SV is a slightly better team. But Mason has one big edge, and that's experience.

I'm not talking about experience playing on the Rupp court. I'm talking about playing in the state tournament, with all the pressure that comes with it. Mason, after winning the title last year, has plenty of it. Valley's current players only have the one game in 2007. I worry that if the game is close in the end, that Mason's state tournament experience will carry them through. The run through the All-A earlier this year will certainly help Valley, but I don't think it's quite the same.

Valley has a history of tough draws in at the state tournament, and this is no exception. Hopefully this is the year they break out, but I'm not sure they will be able to get over the hump against Mason...

Mason by 5. Prove me wrong Wildcats, I'll be pulling for you!
