Elisha Justice. Best guard in the 15th since?
#1
Pretty simple. Who was the last guard in the 15th who was a better player than Elisha Justice?
#2
The first one that comes to mind is Jeremy Hall. Elisha still has a year to improve, but Hall was the Big 10 freshman of the year. Thats not too bad. I may be leaving someone out though.
#3
Landon! I mean he is actually on a D-1 team (the most respected in the country amof), which don't know if Elisha will do that due to size
#4
landon was definitely not better than elisha. landon might have been better last year but he was a senior and elisha was a sophmore. imo elisha is better this year than landon was last year. landon was not that quick i didn't think and elisha would blow right by him.

Landon Slone - Paintsville '07-'08.

All these Valley threads are getting a bit ridiculous. I'm a big fan of Shelby Valley and Elisha Justice, but the boys basketball forum is like Q95-FM, they play the same tunes over and over again until you are simply burnout on a song. So please, change the record.

Amen to that BCA!

I agree with your choice of Landon Slone as well.

I agree with the two above also! Seriously you would have thought they played against an NBA team and beat them by 40

I would say JJ Hylton from Belfry

WHO?

PHS3 Wrote:WHO?

JJ played in the late 80's. He was an excellent guard....

Also, another name to throw out would be Ervin Stepp. They didn't even have a 3 point line when Ervin played....... Imagine if there would have been!

JJ was a great player that led Belfry to 3 straight 15th titles.

I definately agree with both statements. Landon was good enough to be recruited by several schools and plays at UK. So how can anyone question he ability as a great H.S. player. Some say he couldn't gaurd EJ but I also don't think EJ could stop Landon. I watched him as a freshman score 52 (I think that was the total) against SV his freshman year and almost pull the upset single handed.

And I too appreciate what great teams the mountains can produce and love to see the mountains represented well at state and will follow SV all the way to the Saturday evening game at Rupp should they make it. However, a few SV fans build this team up to unbelievable standards and keep going on and on. I mean isn't it enough that pretty much every single person on BGR thinks Valley is one of the best teams to come from the mountains and they are certainly the best team in this region and one of the best in the state. These are the people that cause other area fans to not want to support Valley or to see them do as well. Myself, I try to look over them but come on enough is enough. Just sit back and enjoy the ride, we all know they are a very special team.

If people don't want to discuss the topic its easy enough not to click on the thread. This is the 1st thread I have ever made on Elisha and the SV thread I made is the first of that nature that I have started. I just thought it would be fun to hear everyone's opinion. I was just as happy to post in Paintsville threads last season as I am in Valley's this season. I mean its obvious that everyone is excited about this teams post season chances and thats part of the reason that there are more threads about Valley than any other team. But another reason is that Valley fans are more active on this board right now because our team is up. I know that there aren't many Allen Central fans on the board, but if their team was up and in contention they would be as active as we are. I try not to be an over zealous homer and don't think that I am. I just like to debate about players and teams, whether its Valley or anybody else. Truth be told I got these two threads started because I wanted to talk about some of the great teams and players in the 15th region over the last decade or so.

As many SV fans that are die hard on this board, you would think their pep section would be much larger, it is a shame that the team that does have the best odds on winning region doesnt have the most dominant pep section.

Landon was a great player. I don't get mad when people say he is better than Elisha. Its just one opinion versus another. I think they are two of the better players in a long time. I just don't like being criticized for discussing a topic that others may have beat into the ground.

was Brad Lowe considered a guard?

I would consider Brad Lowe a primary ball handler so I think he can qualify. Another player worth mentioning is Shawn Scott of Pike Central. In my opinion he was much better than Brad Lowe and one of the most underrated players in region history.

 Put that way I can see your point. And the thread most certainly got some thoughts and opinions going. I understand fans love to see their team do well and then get on here and show their excitment. And I guess coming from just a fan of basketball it seems there are a lot of SV threads but you are right if it was another team other fans would be doing the same. That is the great think about BGR every has opinions and points and are free to express them. I love a good debate with other fans and especially if both are right or there is no way to prove what is said other than opinion and won't give in.
#20
Thanks. I was in no way trying to boast about SV or Elisha. I just wanted to hear opinions on where they rank in unbias eyes. I am not one of those guys who would pick SV to beat Oak Hill, I am realistic in my expectations.

what about Micheal Hall from South Floyd scored over 2,000 pts and was a McDonald's All-American

Very good player. Honestly I thought he was better his junior year than his senior. He was a great scorer.
#23
Landon Slone was better but if you want to go back before that I'd say Michael Hall from SF was pretty close to him as far as HS basketball goes. He probabily has more potential than Michael at the next level however.

His JR year was his best. He had a much better team around him then and his Sr teams could douoble and triple team him without it hurting them and that was not the case his Jr year because of Rusty Tackett and others.

Its funny how SF won the region when they probably shouldn't and when they had some of the best talent they were never really one of the favorites come tourney time.

Yes, I was getting ready to mention him when I saw this. He was a great shooter.

I heard a quote that was credited to Bill Mike Runyon, best guard in the 15 th region that is had ever seen. Not sure if that is correct. He is the best true point guard that this region has produced in the past 40 yrs.

I agree, I'm enjoying the ride myself and I look forward to hopefully seeing Valley at state and if not them, hopefully it will be Prestonsburg. This whole SV/Elisha thing has now struck a nerve and the expectations that their fans continuesly put on them is unbelievable. I just hope that all their players actually don't get on here and read into most of it because you know that too much publicity is not good for a teenagers mind.

I understand, and like I stated above these two threads you created struck a nerve with me because it's all I see anymore on the forum. Hopefully you understand.

Exactly, most of us are level headed, heck, I said Elliott would beat us by double digits.
