Should Micheal Vick get a chance in the NFL?
#1
This will be a good topic, but I feel if a man pays his debt to society, should he get a chance to be football player?
#2
I completely agree. He has paid his debt to society and deserves to be able to make a living and if someone wants to give him a chance.
#3
but who?
#4
Pay his debt to society? It's not like he killed abunch of people or was out selling drugs. He fought some dogs, he did his jail time, let the man play football if he still has it.
#5
so that is another question. Does he still have game?

There is no way to tell, after all he is in jail.

I'd say he still has his ''game''. He's a born athlete. And when your born with talent i don't believe you ever lose it.JMO

I don't know because kids would look up to him, and would we want our future being shaped off those ideas? And, who's to say how he'll be mentally or emotionally?

I'm not sure on a definite yes or a definite no, but I'm leaning towards no.

How can that be possible. You can't be away from the practice and planning for that long and just step back on the field and be what you were. Yes, professional athletes lose it every year. Today's great, is tomorrow's has-been.

He'll be a starting QB in the 2009-2010 season.

Mike Tyson was never the same after he got out of prison. I dont know if Mike Vick can still play ball or not but I dont see an NFL team taking a chance on him (Maybe the Raiders)
#12
I think..NO WAY IN THE HOT PLACE should that EVIL thug be allowed to play anywhere. I would love to see him torn to shreds by a bunch of pit bulls! But hey..That's just me Smile

Michael Vick will return to professional football. I know this becaue the Vikings and the 49ers are already looking for him to be released. The man fought dogs. He was not a child molester. There is a whole lot worse things in life than fighing dogs. He will play and still be good.
#14
I would wish him well.

Well, lets look at the normal place of employment. Most places won't hire someone that has a prison record within the past 10 years. Should the NFL be different? I guess they should because there wouldn't be very many players if they threw off everyone with a criminal history.

Whatever the decision good luck with life Michael Vick and I hope you don't get anymore pets.
#16
I hope he does not get another chance but he will.
#17
It is different though. HE TORTURED ANIMALS IN A VERY SICK AND TWISTED WAY! He didn't just fight dogs...Can't believe some peopl would take up for this evil THUG..Yes I can because that is why this world is the way it is today.

I'm with you. It is a privelage to play in the NFL. If the NFL truly wants to change their charecter, then change the charecters!
#19
He paid his debt to society. If he still has game, let him.
#20
Just because he paid his debt to soceity, does not mean he should be given the "Privelage" to go back to the NFL. He has no right, and did nothing to atone for the injustice that he served. He did what he HAD to, nothing more. He lost his privelage when he took the privelage of LIFE from those animal's (intersting, I'm calling the dogs animals when by definition, Vick was the animal)

THE RAIDERS! They like thugs.

I'm sure over 50% of people in the US have done something that if let out of the closet, they would be fired from their jobs. This guy was involved in fighting some of the most vicious dogs there are, what about the other guys who fight dogs, we don't need to make Mike Vick look like the only dog fighter there is and end his life over it, he didn't kill someone, threaten someones life, rape a child. People who have done these things have gotten off easier than what Vick is getting from the public right now.

I am a huge animal lover... especially my dogs. I would like to preface my comment with this: Vick has paid his debt to society. He was investigated, he was arrested, he was tried and convicted by a jury of his peers, he went to prison, he did everything our judicial system asked of him. What else is there left to do? Go to work. If his work is playing pro football and someone needs him (and there's plenty of teams out there who need help, big time) I believe he will be hired. Now is probably a good time to stop passing judgement upon someone who has already been judged. I would say he's learned his lesson and it's time to move on. Do I believe what he was involved in is wrong... I SURELY DO... but it's over and done. I'm gonna pray that he uses better judgement in the future. I also bet he'll be in great shape. What else did he have to do while in prison? As for comparing Vick to Tyson... no comparison. I say "good luck" to Vick, he's gonna need it. I feel more strongly against the corporate folks, who swindled money from banks and then got the gov't to bail them out, than I do Michael Vick. They have done 10x's worse things to the people of this country.

Tyson stayed in prision a whole lot longer than Vick did, and his crimes was worse.

I know this is all opinion based, but to inject a fact here - DOG FIGHTING IS A FOLONY! We're not talking about a moral offense, we are talking about something that is not your typical "closet indescretion". Not just once, Hundreds of times. He didn't get convicted because he broke the law once, he got convicted becuase he fronted a ring of viciousness, one in which he knew the outcome was death.

I can't trivialize his killing of dogs for personal pleasure. Personl pleasure by knowing that his actions is causing death? That is demented, a demented act that tells me I do not want him, or anyone like him near my children. Again, I want to reiterate, he caused the death of innocent animal life that had ZERO justification. I don't care if his name was Michael Vick, or Vick Michaels, there is no justification in this at all!

But, that's just my opinion

And I can see your side of the story 100%, I'm just saying people have killed human life before and gotten off easier than Vick.

I agree with where you are coming from, and don't disagree. I actually think that we are beginning to see the justice system changing practices of the past where celebrity's have been able to buy their way out of trouble. I think most of us felt that Vick would get out of it because of who he was and how much money he could throw at the courts. Interestingly, the Judge (just like the last OJ trial), went for as excessive penalty as possible. This is defintely a change in course.

To your point, historically, others have been treated more lenient. I just feel that possibly the justice system is beginning to "make a point". Now, as to fairness, I just want the justice system to be consistent. I don't want to feel like I will be treated any differently than someone who has the resources to buy themselves out of trouble. So, with that said, I don't feel it is right for the justice system to throw the book at someone because their name carry's fame.

I don't think we are disagreeing on the subject, just two different views of the same thing

well i dont see how anyone person that lives on earth has the right to judge another individual. i dont wanna be judged and i wont judge anyone because we will all be judged in the end by the one and the only one that counts.

Not sure what you mean. If you are speaking to righteousness, you are correct, there is only one who will judge us. But if you are speaking legally, then even the bible teaches us to abide by the laws of man, so we do have a social responsibility to abide by laws that is expected from Heaven above.
