District Cheer title in 15th region.
#1
who do you think it will go to for girls varsity and boys varsity?
#2
If anyone knows anything about cheerleading they should know that the 57th is without a doubt JCHS. They have amazing tumbling and extremely difficult stunts. I could not imagine anyother squad who could come close to them
Go JCHS Cheerleaders. However, it is unfair that they have to be judged for both girls and boys on the same night. I guess this will be their opportunity to show everyone just how AWESOME they really are.
#3
Pike Central will definitely be up there! They always come through during game cheer
#4
Id Say Prestonsburg will cleansweep the 58th foreshore.
#5
It's pretty bold to say that no other squad even comes close in the 57th. In the past few years JC has been the champs, but SC is pretty good this year. They were also the All A state runner up, even though they had the most difficulty. Magoffin is always clean too. If both JC and SC perform in districts like they did at KAPOS, I'm taking SC. I guess we'll see.....but I would love for the Cards to dethrone the Eagles! You can't blame me for that!

I agree that the 57th has great talent. Several of the teams have really made great improvement this year. But, if you watch all the 360s, to heel stretches. There 18 round off tucks, suicides, alternates, front walkover, handspring, lay out, standing tucks, standing handtucks and of course their full you have to say they are very impressive:Cheerlead . Their execution, clean motions, and facials you can see they are an awesome team. I wish all the teams good luck. They are just my pick. A team who has so much difficulty and clean routines both on the sideline and floor is really hard to beat. If the judging is done fairly. Good Luck to everyone in the 57th.

So Bubbles....are you saying the only way JC can lose is if the judges aren't fair?

That's exactly what I thought, too! Yes, JC is very good, and they have a great chance to win, but it is not fair to assume that they have it in the bag. You never know what the judges are looking for. I have judged in-game in the 16th region before, and the powerhouse Greenup did not win on my scoresheet or the other judge's. It is not all about difficulty and tumbling. That is what KAPOS regionals are for. The last time I judged in game, tumbling was not even on the scoresheet, and the team with the better tumbling did not win.

The judging will be fair. They are from outside the region and KAPOS certified. I heard this first hand from a great source who would know. So let's squash that while we can.

Good luck to all squads! Can't wait to hear the results!

I think everyone better come with their games faces on. Everyone knows that the 57th is one of the toughest districts to be in. One never knows who will come out the winner. Good Luck to teams.
#10
No that is not what I am saying. However, you might want to ask Graves County Coed what they think about judges. They might have a definite answer to judging. Expecially at state. Of course this is not state and I would like to think everyone does the right things when it comes to all kids no matter where they come from. All kids from everywhere deserve to be treated fairly. Ours, yours, and everyone. I think everyone can agree with that.
#11
I dont think you can count out Belfry. They have a great squad.
#12
South Floyd looks very good in the 58th.
#13
:please: I have a question..I am not to too clear on the tumbling rule.. can or is a squad allowed to tumble during game play.. because during both games on monday night there was alot of tumbling with players on the floor.. does anyone know anything about this rule??:Cheerlead

no your not supposed too tumble when the ball is in play if that is what you are asking., and if a squad is getting judge and they have girls to tumble when the ball is in play or during 30 second timeouts then they will probably be counted off.
#15
JC is good, and they're tumbling is amazing. but idk about their cheer stunts? i mean, they have that one cheer where they rotate their extensions and switch pom-poms, and i thought that was cute but i don;t see how that is an erxtremely difficult stunt?

i've seen their heel-stretches and stuff before games, but ive never seen these difficult stunts in a cheer.......
#16
I think the competition is between JC, LC, Sheldon Clark.

although magoffin county was very clean-cut...

district Cheer title in 15th region.

Okay... I have held off on posting because this doesn't make sense to me. How many districts are there? We're looking @ GIRLS & BOYS Tournaments... with winners and runner's-up in each of them.
As for Regional Winner's... obviously there is going to be (2) winner's and (2) runner's-up. Actually, there will be no way to discuss this until everything is determined.
I know everyone wants to see their own school do well... and every Mommah crow thinks theirs is the "best".... so I guess we'll see what we shall see, but make nmo mistake, there are alot of factors @ play in the equation... like who is all well, who has someone sick, who went to school, who didn't, who hit all their floor cheers, who didn't, who had the best difficulty and execution on that night they were judged.... just a whole lot of things... but make no mistake, everyone has worked hard and deserves a nice pat on the back for having done their best this year!

That is funny!!! One judge was the daughter of Sheldon Clark's previous coach and the other judge was from Magoffin. I doubt that is considered out of the region.

LAWRENCE COUNTY WON IN THE BOYS GAME AND GOT RUNNERS-UP ON IN THE GIRLS ...................... THEY ARE AWESOME:Cheerlead

LC congrats..Now maybe we can get a little respect for our wonderful cheerleaders.

I was not told who the judges were or where they were from. I just know that they are usually out of region people, and by who chose the judges, I knew that they would be fair. And I am sure that they were! And if you wanna be technical about it, one of the judges lives in Grayson, which is the 16th region. I do not know the other judge (don't even know her name), but TBG would not be unfair. She has been judging for over 10 years. With her, you either have it, or you don't. Apparently, the people that won had it, and the one's that didn't, didn't.

I think it's ridiculous that just because SC won people are saying it is unfair. I was told no other squad even clapped for them.....GREAT sportsmanship. If it was unfair, don't you think they would have at least placed in the boys' competition? They legitimitely have a GREAT team this year, and no other team in the district has impressed me so much to say that any of them could beat SC. I think if it had been held anywhere else, they would have placed the same. Obviously they didn't place in the boy's competition because they had a bad night and some falls. But when they are on, like when they got judged at the girls game, it is hard to beat them. Especially if you leave your school at the last minute and have something unfortunate to occur causing you to miss the whole first half of your game....just sayin'.....

Congrats to SC, LC, and JC on their placements in the competition...I'm sure you ALL deserved the trophies you received.

OH I can already feel the anticipation for next year....

Okay... I was in the midst of a "brain flatulance"... I knew there is no cheer award @ the Regional level... and have meant to change this... but have just been a L'il busy.

Now, I do want to add this morsel to the discussion: Tournaments decide on how they will handle cheer. Most will try to get KAPOS certified because they know those people to have experience and background dealing in the specific rules and regs by KAPOS and the Nat. Fed. This takes a load off their shoulders.
Now, do they try to get folks out of the Region? Many will, @ the District level, but there again, they are paying mileage and it's more than one night's business, so many will look to other districts within their region.
As far as I am concerned, if a school hires "certified" judges with ample experience in cheer(both comp and in-game) and they are based on the other end of the Region, then it's fine. I know no one, who would maliciously hurt a team.
As for the deductions... it is my opinion that if schools are going to use primarily KAPOS judges, then it's high time KAPOS & the KHSAA make every squad's coach become certified and make them compete in KAPOS comps... also make in-game cheer coaching clinics mandatory for coaches and AD's. I am sick to death of coaches and parents complaining about stuff they've never bothered to learn in the first place. Every school is mailed both handbooks every school year, there is a website where everything is posted for the public... annnd further more, if you're a coach of a squad and your squad is going to participate in something, LEARN ABOUT IT. READ UP ON IT. CARE ENOUGH ABOUT YOUR SQUAD TO KNOW THE RULES INSIDE AND OUT... IF SOMETHING ISN'T CLEAR... MAKE A PHONE CALL FOR PETE'S SAKE! Only until the KHSAA makes this mandatory, will people actually do what they should have been doing all along. Read, Learn, Know, Care.... if you are on a squad who has a coach who doesn't do these things... then you have a coach who needs to hit the road. Stop allowing them to waste your time, money, energy and dreams. Four years is not alot of time and in a blink you'll be cheering your last home game wondering where it all went and why you don't have more to show for it.

Well it seems that LC came on top on this one! Everyone underestimated them..better watch out for next year there coming on strong!
Congrats LC!:Cheerlead

First of all it doesn't matter how many years of experience you have every district should get judges that haven't had any affiliation with their school. It doesn't matter that the lady from Sheldon Clark now lives in Grayson what matters is that her mother used to coach there. I'm not saying the results wouldn't have been the same. So there wasn't any use to put the little comment in about Johnson Central's bus breaking down. They didn't leave the school at the last minute get your facts straight. It doesn't matter if they left two hours early you can't anticipate your bus is going to break down. That was just a childish thing to say. I am only saying every district host should get judges that aren't affiliated with anyone in their district. This would completely eliminate all bias. No one said Sheldon Clark or Lawrence County don't have good squads, I was just simply pointing out that the judges weren't non-affiliated non-district judges.

I agree with you totally. That is funny. You are right. One judge is the daughter of a former coach and employee of SC. The other from Magoffin Co. Bless them they didn't get anything and they deserved to place. Everyone knows that if you want to keep any rumors down you get judges with absolutely NO TIES to the district. Lucy M. would have been more than glad to get judges for Ms. C. The excuse of not being able to get anyone else is a joke. This just gives KAPOS a black eye. The last time I was on the KAPOS website there were several qualified individuals who could have and would have judged. We have several near by counties with KAPOS judges that would have even a closer drive than Grayson.
This just puts a bad taste in everyones mouth. But, nevertheless, IT IS WHAT IT IS. Hopefully, life will go on and WE WILL BE BETTER FOR IT. MC and JC have nothing to hold their heads about. Everyone who watched knows the difference. And by the way some of them are KAPOS judges and indivduals of the winning schools. Yea, it is funny.

What is childish is getting on here and saying that it was rigged just because you didn't win. What is childish is sitting and arguing with judges about your scores when everyone else has left the game, when nothing can change them. The only thing that can change is an error in tabulation. Once inked, the totals stand, no matter what anyone says. Oh well, it's over and done with.

If the rotation is still the same as when I was in school, districts will be held at JC next year. Because of LC entering, I don't know if it is. But if it is, you will have the opportunity to fix whatever "mess" SC created.

Let's all grow up and move on to something else before this thread is closed.

I don't believe I said anything about the results being rigged anyone who can read can clearly see I said having outside judges may not have changed anything. I don't even know what you are talking about arguing about scores. I just simply stated that every district needs to get judges that aren't affiliated with their school or district. I'm not just talking about the 57th district I am talking about every district in the state. I am just nearly stating an opinion that I think would make KAPOS seem more credible. I don't know where the tournament is next year, but if it is at Johnson Central and they hire judges from Johnson County or affiliated with the school then they are in the wrong also.

so glad LC won... congrats girls! your hard-work is being paid off!
#30
this comes to show that sometimes the underdogs do come out on top.
yes jc is good but from what i saw NO better than lc who got first for boys and runner up for girls or sc who got first for girls.

and as for the competition being "rigged" by having judges from the area it obviously isnt, because if that was the case sc would have more than likely won both games..theres no doubt in my mind that w/o the few mess up in the boys game that they wouldnt have at least gotten runner up though.

but congrats too all the teams who placed.
hard work pays off ....and yeah confidence is good but cockiness is a negative...remember that.
