Oh, he wasn't needed. Coach seemed to have a better plan by going small.

Ugly on several fronts. Cat's young players did not match the intensity ore aggresiveness on the offensive side of the game that they had showed over the last couple of games. On defense, the Cat's could never get into a rythem due to the fouls that were called and when they were caled. Vandy shot 15 more freebies than the Cats, that is a huge disparity, and no body wins with that kind of difference. With Patterson out, and the Cats playing in a place that gives them fits, the outcome is not a surprise, the way we got to it was.

Worst game Perry Stevenson has had since he has been at UK. Couldn't catch, couldn't shoot couldn't rebound. Shoot, he looked like he could barely stand up. Harrelson a complete no show. Not a good combination with Patterson still unavailable.
Porter's worst game of the year as well.
Nobody could get in the flow of the game.
Officiating was awful but Vanderbilt was the tougher team and deserved to win.
Get passed it and ready for the toughest stretch of the season.
Oh yeah. I think Liggins is still running into people back in the lockerroom. He really needs to learn how to get under control and not waste that talent.

Very ugly game...It's going to be difficult for us but maybe with Patterson back we can finish strong.
02-18-2009, 01:31 AM
Vandy shot 40 free throws and hit on 32 of them.
Enough said.

UMM Anyone know when Patterson will be back? :please:

He got away with prolly 3 charges tonight.. He is out of control. Galloway has spurts where he shows brilliance, then follows that play where he shows ignorance.

Stevenson walks more than Hansbrough.

Everyone seems to think the Tennessee game, he will be back. If not, probably longer.

He warmed up tonight, but I am assuming the trainer said no. I assume he will be back by the next game

Vandy is bad. UK was worse tonight w/o PP.

Gillispie said last night, he just practiced barely practiced for a few minutes yesterday. He did not look close to ready to play. Sometimes a sprain can take longer to come back from than a fracture or break.

Overrated Wrote:UMM Anyone know when Patterson will be back? :please:I would rather him come back 100% then risk an additional injury although the Cats greatly missed him tonight.
I was watching the game on mute in the library and it seemed like the refs were calling every little thing. Then again, with the comments on here, I guess they were.
Hopefully this is the only game the Cats need to get the intensity back up and we don't go on another 3 game slide....

Game wasn't called fair at all. They were aloud to play aggressive but UK wasn't. Vanderbilt is not a better team then UK.

The calls in this game were absolutely ridiculous. They changed the game, IMO.

The officiating in this game was bad. But that is not why UK lost. Lack of toughness was.
For UK to make any noise Stevenson has to step up and play consistant. Tonight I thought he was awful. With or without Patterson I think Stevenson is the key to how much noise UK can make in the post season.

Stevenson isn't the key and if you think he is then you don't know what your talking about. He is so weak its pathetic. He just gets bullied around down low all game long. Then on offense he walks bout everytime, he can't catch anything, and he has a horrible touch. The keys to Uks success will be the point guard play, our outside shooting to keep everyone from camping out down low on patterson and I think If we want to win we have to start galloway at point. Liggins isn't ready and porter is a lost cause. Galloway is doing better then both of them and he should get the most minutes. Plus the officiating was why we lost this game.

UK really stunk it up out there tonight. Yes there were some terrible calls but I dont think that was the biggest problem. Lack of toughness has always killed UK; past, present and if they dont get someone that will show some toughness soon, it will hurt them in the future. Stevenson is weak inside, as is Harrellson and also Patterson at times. Him not playing shows a big time lack of toughness, I have seen players play through worse injuries than a sprain. Football players do it all the time and that is a much more physical sport than basketball. He needs to suck it up and play, and if its the trainers and/or coach keeping him out, then they are just as weak. Which I have said that about the coach for a long time anyway. He needs to do away with his pride and let these players play the way I and others know they can.

Completely agree. The only players that showed up were Galloway, Stewart!!! and Meeks. I do not know how many games we can win like this. Mr. Patterson is needed to rescue our season and get to the tourney. However, on a bright side, just think about next year (Patterson, Meeks, Orton, Hood, Varilno, Pilgrim)!!! lol I got to make myself feel better.

No offense or anything but we do not know the severity of the sprain. As I am sure for anyother UK fan, I would not want Patterson to come back on a weak ankle and injury it even further. The whole business about toughness can be fixed with size. Orton and Pilgrim will be big for us next year. Miller and Harrellson (when he plays) got out there and play really hard (no lack of effort). Stevenson on the other hand get man-handled every night and Stewart is not exactly your typical post player. So I understand the lack of toughness tonight without Patterson but this talk that UK has never being tough is retarded. Look at a team like the 98 champions.

Im really starting to doubt that Patterson or Meeks will return.. Patterson getting hurt so much, I believe he'll make the jump to the NBA. And Meeks stock is really starting to rise on the board. I just seen where he has moved up to 33 overall on projections. A couple more outstanding games and he'll be 20-25 overall. So the chances are raising he'll make the move too. Not good for Kentucky Basketball.

A.J. Ogilvy Destroyed UK he was a one man wreckin crew lol ... Uk had 16 turnovers and they took some bad shots and missed some real easy shots bottom line uk beat themselves by not playing so smart

Yeah, you are right, Ogilvy destroyed UK, but not because he was that good. He played extremely aggressive and was rewarded over and over again by the refs. On the offensive side of the ball, he drew so many touch fouls it was rediculous. On defense, he pounded people, yet no whisltes would blow. There are guys in prison who did less assualt than he did last night hh:

Ah... The common excuse when UK loses, the refs were terrible. UK played slow on defense and didn't rotate, which is what generated fouls for them.
It is remarkable how inept UK is when Jodie Meeks isn't scoring. A couple times in the second half they made it blatantly obvious that Meeks was the only person who could score, as no one even looked at the basket. They have to get over that, or they will be disappointed in a few weeks.
UK has a tougher stretch coming up, they could be in trouble...

Exactly. Last night looked like a completely different team than when the Cats played Florida and Arkansas.
The inexperience of the odd enviroment showed and reflected the play of the younger guys.
