I am asking this because Magoffin's is like playing on concrete and I just walk on it. I think that is part of our injury problem. Hopefully it will be better in the near future.

Well of the fields I played on in the 80's (God Im old) Johnson Central and Hazard had the nicest fields I played on. As for the worst fields Fleming Neon was bad and sorry Belfry fans Viperman stadium back then was awful. One end of the field was nothing but creek gravel. We come out to warm up and I dont think anyone didnt have bad cut when we went back in. Guess a lot of fields have improved back then. Would love to have played on the turf at Belfry or Pikeville.

Paul G Blazer ( ashland) has the best around their district becuase it is like playing on turf u think until the rain comes in then u are playing in a swamp. But worse field has to be Boyd Becuase all it is made up of is holes and a few patch of dead grass.
but again that is me lol. :king:

Whitesburg's Field was pretty crappy. it was like playing in sand. Probably the best field ive played on would be Valley's field, aside from my own. Valley has a nice field, but i gotta say ER's Field is the best.

Belfry, East Ridge and Pikeville are among the best I have seen

LOL, we have a lot of dead grass or whatever kind of grass the river brings in when it floods the field ever year.

Belfry, Pikeville, East Ridge, and Prestonsburg have nice fields

When it comes to field, seating, parking and plain overall appearance of the stadium, I think Ashland is hands down my favorite. Of course I am a wee bit biased. The locker rooms still need much help even though they were spruced up a few years back. They are like cave dwellings. To this day, this is still the only high school field I've seen personally with what I call "equal opportunity seating." The stands are exact replica's on the visitors and home sides with the exception of the homeside pressbox.

Haven't seen Belfry's yet, but I'd assume it's pretty nice. Pikeville has a nice field, ER's is pretty good. When kept up SV has a good field. Newport Central is also very good, and Ashland has the best stadium I've played in. I also like Somersets field. That grass is the best real turf I've played on.
As for the worst, Fleming Neon's was terrible. We dreaded playing Neon at home because the field was just dirt and rock. South Floyd's old field...I think it was called the snake pit was pretty bad too. Whitesburg's field wasn't much fun either. We were wearing white and all came out of the game covered in a grayish-black dust.

When it comes to the field prestonsburg field isn't all that great it is very dusty and is like your playing in a sand pile but when ut comes to the seatin prestonburg has one of the nicest stadiums.

The best fiel I've ever played on is monroe's field at Dale carter stadiuem and Owensboro Cathlics field is nice 2

Being a girl ya know and never actually playing on any field, I think that East Ridge, Belfry, and Pikeville all have nice fields and Prestonsburg's set up looks pretty cool.
09-25-2005, 05:23 PM
The worst field I have ever played on was Sheldon Clark, "The Rock" , when it was wet and muddy and some of the mud was stirred up rocks would literally be on the field. It was terrible.

Prestonsburg has a nice field but nothing compared to ashland, pikeville, or belfry........I would have to say Prestonsburg has the best work out facility in the mountains hands down....It is unreal what those guys have to work with.......I was talking to coach D the other day and telling him that these boys playing right now HAS NO IDEA how good they have it....I wish everyone could look at prestonsburg locker/workout room....ITS AWSOME :wieghts:

Ummm...I think youall are forgetting Letcher Central...not sure if they have field turf (it looked unreal on TV if it was natural) and then they have the jumbo-tron replay system along with great stands and the whole works :thumb:

harlan's feild is pretty ruff its like landing on concrete when i played i used to throw rocks off of it inbetween plays, on the other hand i always loved playing at hazard its like the grass on the feild grabs your cleats lynn camps field is nice now the fence infront of the stands is like 10feet tall though? you can't stand there and really see, people like me and my group at the games like to stand at the fence but other than thats its ok the locker rooms are pretty nice at lynn camp um.. williamsburg's feild is accually pretty nice can't say much for the rest of it, evarts is about the same as harlan and some how i think i remember cumberlands feild not being that bad except for the big metal pipe on the sidelines to mark where the players stand but i can't really remember that one too well. ha ludlow's feild has 8 sink holes in the flats on both sides covered up with rubber mats that really sucks. um thats all the feilds i can recall right now

It is pretty cool that P-Burg has a field house... All the guys ive talked to who play there say they hate the field cause it gets swampy in the middle when it rains. And it cant hold the sod quite so well. you can almost look at it and peel it up.
09-26-2005, 11:13 AM
And i almost forgot.... Perry Central has THE BEST field house. when we were there, they had an unreal facility there. They had all the best stuff to work out on, and a HUGE Sone Stereo with a 500 Disk Changer.... Sweet.
09-28-2005, 01:04 AM
yeah LCC's fild is turf and it's very nice....
09-28-2005, 02:35 AM
Yea man Pburg has only the best workout stuff......They have the same workout stuff as the nebraska football team does......pretty neat

It will be hard for Shelby Valley and East Ridge to keep their fields in good condition because of Jr High football and soccer games. Had a Jr High game at SV last year a day after a rain and it was in terrible shape.

ER has a dedicated Soccer field, But no dedicated Soccer team. the soccer field is our practice field.

IMO, Belfry and Putnam Stadium are at the top of the ebst facilities in KY along with the Staidum of Champions in Hopkinsville.

you want to see an awesome field come over to lcc sometime and check it out.
09-29-2005, 11:29 PM
Magoffin has the worst its like concrete.....Pikeville the best cause it is awsome
09-30-2005, 01:49 AM
When I played on ER's field last year it was horrible, the players could barely stand up on it.
09-30-2005, 03:29 PM
We have one of the best natural fields around.... id rather be on ours any day.
09-30-2005, 03:32 PM
does anybody remember the pburg-ER game from last year? all i heard all week was how good the field was, so we didnt expect to get there and the sidelines were COMPLETELY mud, and the field was all water and grass, maybe ER has a problem with drainage or maybe they sprayed the field for us or something, because it was one of the worst fields i ever played on.

I don't know if this is exactly the problem but some Jr. High and JV games also take place on that field and along with the sprinklers running too long AND rain, the field and sidelines espically do become muddy and wet. Sorry to hear that though because usually it is in excellent shape. I'll get on to Mr. Morgan about that. lol
