Does your school administration support your girls’ basketball team?
#1
Do they encourage, support and actually care if you succeed? Since the season is just about over I wanted how see how everyone else feels about this.
#2
I have wondered if our school administration cares about our girls' teams. Our girls' teams right now are better than the boys. Maybe some schools don't put enough emphasis on their girls' teams for some reason.
I wish they would here because we have some talent coming up that is going to totally change our girls' basketball team.

We have great support from our school, from teachers, staff, school board members. I really nice to see them out there in the stands.
#4
At Breathitt the girls basketball players get treated great.
#5
Prestonsburg girls program isn't the greatest, but I think that our administration supports them.
#6
No we have no support from the school where my daughter goes.
#7
Yeah, at Phelps we have a great support team for our girls!

I actually feel sorry for my areas high school girls team. They boys get the pep club, (away and home), cheerleaders, more fans, and overall get treated better.
#9
Not much support at all.

When I was in school the girls program at Pike Central were treated very well. The kids didnt get out much to support them untill tournament time but when a big game came up we were all in full swing. I rarely missed a girls game, went to more girls games then guys games actually. The admin. was at most girls games nearly equal to the guys. Overall it was great for all parties. Now to say its the same now not to sure.

If they have a winning season everyone wants to jump on the band wagon, if they have a losing season no one even shows up for the games!!!!

Administration supports them at my school.

Yes, the principal is also the girls head coach.

Yes, I am proud to say that I am from PHELPS and that we have a WONDERFUL principal in Mike Hamilton. Not only does he support the children in athletics, but he knows each and every child that attends his school. I am also proud to say that there are always several teachers, fans, and lets not forget those TERRIFIC parents who are always there. YES, I am proud to say I am from PHELPS and that there are some really GREAT people from HORNETVILLE.

That's true this year, but we've had pretty good administrative support for a while now.
#18
ok another question to add to this one if you all dont mind. If you feel as if your school DOES NOT support girls basketball what could your school due to better it for all parties?
#19
They are very well supported throughout NKY & CKY schools

Owsley County is completley behind both teams equally. A lot of fan base at both games, maybe a slight bit more even at the girls. But, the girls are having a great season run this year. None the less, the school board and community are behind the Lady Owls 100%.

When I played at Knott Central, the girls were treated horribly. The only time we got any recognition was when we went to state. All of a sudden we had tons of fans. Next season when Kasi Mullins-Galloway was gone, it was back to the same old thing. The boys get new uniforms pretty much ever year. At one point, I remember them having "home" and "away" shoes, as well; something that is unheard of for girls. We asked for new uniforms after we won state and even though we got them, it was quite a struggle. The boys always got pep rallies before pretty much every ball game. We were lucky to get one a year. Boys and girls high school basketball should be valued equally!
I can't say a lot about the pep club never coming to their games because I suppose that is a choice each fan makes, not administration, but the pep club is led by an administrator and that person gives out the orders to come to games.

Posts like this are taste-less and highly uncalled for. There is support at every school for girls basketball but when the rubber hits the road at the end of the day, almost anyone (that is honest) would say they would rather watch a boys game than a girls game. The admin. has very little control over if fans come to games and furthermore, perhaps if people fundraised for the girls as avidly as the Boys Boosters fundraise for the boys then perhaps they too could receive the same new uniforms each year. Its not the administration that you have a problem with here, it seems as if you have a problem with the Boys raising more money than the girls-in any case, don't blame the administration for it, blame the boosters.

It doesn't matter who raises what money there is still a little issue called title 9 that is being violated if the money being spent is that far out of proportion.

Please do not mention administrators at schools names.

Thank you,

It's obvious that you have never been involved in girl athletics before. Or understand title 9.

I understand title 9 however, if the amount of fundraising was equal on both sides then title 9 wouldn't even be an issue.

This may be the case at your school but I can assure you that it is not the case at all schools.
