Mason County vs Elliott County 2/10
#1
Mason Co travels to Sandy Hook to take on Elliott Co. What are your thoughts on this game?
#2
EC defintely has the advantage at home. Prior to the All 'A', I would have given this game to EC purely because of homecourt advantage since both of these two teams are tow of the States best. But if EC had trouble with the 2-2-1 trapping press of Shelby Valley, then they will have the same kind of problems with Mason County.

I won't predict a winner, but I do feel that EC will have to find an answer for the press of MC.

I understand that EC like to press themselves to create easy buckets from defense. Mason Co. is a tough team to press. Their gurads, Middleton and Setty are 6-5 & 6-7, huge for guards. They are both tremendous ball handlers, and can dribble through a press and see over anyone guarding them.

What I think EC can do is shoot the 3 against MC. Once EC gets the ball past 1/2 court, MC has been suspect at best in their permiter defense. If you want to beat MC from the outside, dribble penetrate and kick-out. Easier said than done when you have such length guarding you.

I'm a 10th region fan, so my loyalties favor MC, but I became a fan of EC's style while watching them last year at Rupp. This will be a different MC team than the one that EC faced last year. MC does not count on Miller as the do all guy. though you don't magically replace a Mr. Basketball from your team, Mason Co. may acutally be a better "team" than last year.

This should be a fun match-up to witness. Good luck to both.

It's gonna be tough for the Royals to come out of Elliott County with a win. I'll take Elliott County by 5.

Best of luck to both!
#4
I have watched both play several games. Mason is not last years team. Elliott Co wins this one with no problem.
#5
I don't see Elliott losing this one at home. These two teams may very well rematch in the second round of the Sweet Sixteen, if Mason can get by Shelby Valley in the first round.

Elliott by 4.

Gonna be a great game!! Just wish I could be there to watch!! Good luck to both teams!!

I think the Royals have what it takes to steal one on the road, but I don't think it will happen. I'm taking the Lions by 5.

Good luck to both teams!

I will go out on a limb and say EC has made an adjustment for that. It will be a tough game but EC will get by with a 7 point victory.

True, but it is on WSAZ's MyZ channel. Pretty sure this is a cable only channel, and even then I think only certain cable companies offer it. As for the game....... I look for EC to be sky high for this game after the shafting they took in this match-up last year in Rupp, should be loud and rowdy in the Hook Tuesday night. If Mason can weather what I expect to be a fast start for EC this game will be a dandy! I'll go with my boys at home by 4. Here's to an injury free game for both teams.

I don't know enough about Elliott County, but seeing first-hard the abilities of Mason County, they are very good.

Mason County will run a very uptempo game that may make this a high scoring game.

Setty and Pawsatt are both sophomores who received a lot of playing time as Freshman. They both play much more mature games than their age may indicate.

Elliott Co. has the answer for those two boys with a combined point total of 5000 points.

Is that the same two boys who played Shelby Valley?

The game of the day. This will give us an idea of how good these two

top 10 teams really are. Someone mentioned before they may be playing

again in a few weeks unless Shelby Valley upsets someone's applecart.

Should be a good game with the home team winning by 4 or 5. Sure hope

UK beats Florida tonight, as a side note.

Yes I believe it is the same two boys that lost to Shelby Valley , who lost to Knott Central. But since this thread is about Mason and Elliott , and who we think will win the game , I will take Elliott Co. over Mason.Big Grin There are no undefeated teams left in ky.
