The topic of this thread is to discuss the future of the Ashland Kittens and the Coaching. Please NO bashing of players. Kids are innocent. This is not the rumor mill but truth that I am hearing. Feel free to discuss. Kittennation I will talk with you before the game when we play Fairview. Certain things needs to be addressed and soon.

The Ashland Kittens will need some repairs after graduation this Spring and if Coach Bradley needs to bring in a new coach such as the "Parent" coach then so be it. My sources tell me that Bradley may coach next year then step down. If this happens then what?

I think the writing is on the wall, especially if they do in fact hire the parent we are talking about.
He was already instrumental in the success of one high school team. Although there are those who will deny his success. These people are just jealous, want to be coaches, who wish they had his abilities.
The future is bright for the Kittins. And I for one can't wait.

I for one hope there is a change. We have have put our older kids out for pasture for what so we could bring in a bunch of middle school players. We have had most of these older kids in our system since grade school and now the only time they can find is pine time. While these transfers get moved on up to play varsity....are you kidding me. It's time for a change in our kitten program.

When the older ones were the younger ones they made older ones ride the pine. Why is it different now?

What is all this talk about transfers? You people need to learn the history of Ashland athletics. The proud Ashland tradition was built on kids who grew up wanting to be Tomcats and Kittens. Kids like Cutwright, Cantrell, Arbaugh, and more recently McDavid.
These kids dreamed of one day putting on the maroon and white and being a part of the greatest high school athletic program in Kentucky if not the nation. Other schools may condone the use of "transfers", but not Ashland. So in the future leave us out of the transfer discussions, we are above it.

The 8th grade girls had a good team and won the championship. They crushed Boyd County in the final game. Now, they are playing freshman, JV, and some varsity. The freshman team has been beaten badly twice by Boyd County, the last time at Ashland, with Boyd sending only 8 players, four 6th and 7th graders, and one freshman. It is asking a lot of these young girls to play at the JV and varsity level the way they played at the eighth grade level. Maybe they could concentrate on being a good freshman team before taking on the pressure of JV and varsity.

I doubt you will ever see a parent sitting on the bench for the Kittens.

I have no idea about all this talk of a "new" coach for ashland next year, but out of curiousity, why would you never see a parent on the Ashland bench?

I have watched the Kitten program since Judy Morris coached in the mid 60s. Not one parent has ever coached at Ashland i just don't see it happening.

Yeah, but there hasn't been a canidate as qualified as the parent we are talking about. They will either let him coach or loose him.

I dont think he/she is talking about a head coaching vacancy. There have been Assistants/Mgrs that have had players on the team.

Whoever coaches them, I just hope the kittens be lead in the right direction......They have some extremely talented girls there now and coming up. i think there can think of 2 people that have girls on there or coming up soon who would do an excellent job, impartially.

Please let me clarify my earlier post... i feel that the kittens are overflowing with talent for the next several years...i have would have no objection to a parent coaching or assisting any of the kittens teams, as long as thy were realistic ....the goal is to better the players, help them advance their game, and of coarse to win games...i understand the resentment when 'transfers' or underclassmen move up in the ranks, but is that their fault.....i for one hope the Ashland Kittens program can resolve its problems...
i do have to agree with the earlier post about holding the middle schoolers to the same expectation in a varsity game as an 8th grade game...but there are a few who can hang.

I did forget about one parent thay was on the bench Darrell Young helped coach the Kittens. When you have been watching Ashland sports since they played on Lexington Ave you forget a few things.

Nothing better in my opinion then having a Fairview Man like Darrell come to the Ashland system. His daughter Nikki was an outstanding Point Guard for the Kittens. Having said that, why not have a Rose Hill Man in the system as well? Doesnt matter where they come from as long as they come. American Dream there are a few more names you are forgetting as well but apparently you are a little older than me so its understandable.

I wish you would helpme remember the names of the parents who sat on the kitten bench as a coach.

Before the girls can concentrate on being a good freshman team they must practice together as a team. With the three freshman girls and the 8th grade girls they could have a very good freshman team if they practiced together.

I have to agree ...the freshmen rarely practice, and when they do it is a day or 2 before a game...they have no time to prepare...they are much better than their record shows
