Yes, Shelby Valley is in-front of Elliott County in the EKY poll, but Valley is behind Elliott County in the state-wide poll.

that doesn't make much sense...

A voter didn't show much love for Valley, but did for Elliott.
It happens.

Trust me, I know. It was skewed by a voter who was obviously not impressed with Shelby Valley or their wins over the weekend, as most voters had them ranked higher than Elliot County.

Well, that figures...haha..... Oh well guess they were just mad their team lost...lol

Is he from Elliott County? Not from one of those areas where SV won
by double score? Sounds rather biased to me.

yes! bardstown made it in. they deserve to be there. I expect them to keep moving up

Same incident happened last week with Corbin and Shelby Valley. Valley was ranked higher in the EKY poll and Corbin was higher in the State poll.
Don't make much sense, but it happens like BlackcatAlum said.

I still don't see how Scott Co. can be justified as the #1 team, over a team that beat them?

I for one, did vote Holmes #1.

No Shelby valley has not doubled up a team I back.
No it is not biased.
I did vote Elliott County ahead of Shelby Valley because they have had a more impressive season thus far and one game between to very good teams is not enough to sway me.

How many voters are there BCA?

4 voted for this poll and 5 or 6 voted for the EKY poll.
We would like for more staff members to vote, but some just don't have the time.

Shelby Valley beat them head to head..... So thats just crazy...

It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.

Thank you for the details. We appreciate the staff doing this and giving us something to debate. No matter the results of the rankings, it's always fun to say "my teams' better than your team"!

Sure makes it more fun than everyone agreeing, right?

I totally disagree with you.....

JK, yes it does. It's great to debate and share our opinions, proving to ourselves and others just how wrong we all can be at times

Seriously, I think the staff does a very good job of placing the teams. It has to be very difficult trying to evaluate teams from each of the Districts and trying to come up with a reasonable rankings.

Corbin is ranked 10 in the AP poll.

If Shelby Valley had a 100% healthy Elisha Justice the result would
been very different in the game you specified, right? IMO, yes, and we
are expressing our opinion on here, correct?

Yes we are. So nobody's opinion should be second guessed, correct?
You are playing the if game there. The fact is Knott County Central did beat them.

I think Tate was using the logic that is used when rankings such as AP or Coaches Rankings come out each week in college.
It would be one thing if the Knott County game was recently, but it was a while back. When a team loses to another team in their same ranking category they fall. Always. Regardless of the situation.
Meanwhile, teams that are on winning streaks, especially over some solid competition like Shelby Valley move up the ladder based on their accomplishments.
Fact is, both teams have 1 in state loss and have some solid wins. So it's more like what they have done recently. Winning a state title after beating the supposed #1 team in the state (overrated) will generally move a team ahead of other said team. (when they are generally considered to be close anyways)
That is how most rankings work in the college game, and by most voters in any situation.

I'd like to think our ratings are better than "most rankings".
I'm not going to vote by what most other's do. I will vote by my own thoughts and opinions instead of just being sheep and following the flock. That is what makes people polls different and better than computer polls IMO.

Can't argue with that. But to be fair, I don't think any of us that vote act like sheep and follow the herd.

I certainly don't. I vote every week in both boys' polls (as well as both girls' polls), and I take the time to analyze each team that I rank every week. Who have they played lately, who have they beat or lost to? Then I look at their whole season, and decide whether I should drop them or raise them this week. It's never a direct comparison between two teams, just more of a general comparison of all the teams being considered.
Like was mentioned earlier, one thing that makes human polls better than computer ratings is we can include other factors that a computer doesn't factor in. Such as the fact that all 4 of SV's losses came during the week immediately after Elisha Justice's injury. Since he has come back healthy, the team has returned to the elite level they were at before the injury. As human voters, we can recognize that and rate the team accordingly.
