Let's not forget that, although they don't play a regular season game, the Faulkners and the EC boys have played the SV boys in AAU (coached by the Newsome/Newsome combp) upwards of ten times over the years, so they have matched up against them before and know how they play. This would be a great rematch, cannot believe SV missed 11 straight FT's and still won the game, that is just a testament to how well they played the first 3 Q's and their overall defensive effort.

To be honest, I thought Elliot County would win a close one, but I am glad to see Shelby Valley win. Both teams are very good and should make noise in Rupp (should both advance of course). Congrats, Wildcats! Now go win the first All A State Title for the 15th Region and bring home the hardware!!!
haha figured you would think that was funny.
All the talk we had this week about this one proved to be exactly what we thought it would be. Wish I could have been there, if they make it to the quarterfinals of state against one another expect a call from me to meet up lol.

It would be the championship game

both teams, they are each very good and represent their schools well. I was
surprised at the shot blocking skills of the 6ft7inch Knipp, and he is a scorer
also. The Faulkners are as advertised and so is Ferguson.
Adams played his best game for SV in quite a while, he came to play today
which he doesn't always do. SV stuck to their game plan and played a great
game I thought. A little surprised Justice did not score more, maybe his
shoulder is still bothering him somewhat. Team needs to practice foul shots.
GREAT WIN, GO WILDCATS!!
You know, he took a pretty hard hit in a foul last night. Maybe that irritated the injury? Hopefully not.

slugger35 Wrote:I wish that were the case but no it wasn't. You know how you see teams warming up and you say to yourself, they look flat, that was the case with Elliott this morning. I knew when they were warming up that they were not going to play well. It looked to me like they were going thru the motions and like they under estimated Valley. They were not mentally ready for this game and Valley took advantage of it.
Well lets hope both make it to the quarterfinals of state, and lets hope Elliot is awake so they can remember what it was like playing Valley.
You must remember that even though Elliot scores most of their points off of their transition game. Against a team like Valley whose backcourt is good at handeling pressure from top to bottom. Plus their big men handle the ball very well. You must have a game plan to take care of your half court game. They shot the ball well and should have known this game was going to force them into alot of half court sets. They needed to stress this in pregame. If people thought Justice and Bryant was just going to hand the ball over in the back court and allow EC to get alot of run outs. Then they were gravely mistaking, Valley DOES NOT allow you to control the tempo, which way to many people expected them to do. Sorry but Elliot can only use their "speed" against not so good backcourts plain and simple. They are going to have to develop a half court set against a match-up zone to beat Valley in the future plain and simple.

Sorry don't listen to me I had SV's region and Perry Central's region backwards.
The bottom bracket is LOADED. The top 3 in the state according to polls are there in Holmes,SC, and EC. SV is there along with Mason Co. Thats 5 teams that are all easily top 15 teams, AND THATS BEFORE THE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!

I was almost right i said SV by 4. Elliot County is really an awesome team. I guess people can stop the conversation of who is better. No excuses, SV cam out and done what they needed to do. The defense of SV is unreal.
Congrats Shelby Valley bring it home to the 15th!!!

I do. If they hit their free throws they blow this one open.

GREAT GAME!!! Some awkward call both ways but in the end it was one of the best high school b-ball games I have ever seen. Congrat Cats go get state title #1 and bring it to the mountains.

OMG I love this comment. Nice excuse!!!!!!! Wow your brillant. FYI Valley had less rest. PATHETIC. Take that as many as EC wants and sit on it untill tourny time. Valley is the one repin tonight, to much Pike Co. pride here.

They should have had rest... They won by a combined 100 points in the first two rounds. Why weren't they rested. SV played later last night than Elliott and against a better team.

Maybe they should stop running up the score on lesser teams and rest those starters if they aren't conditioned enough to play that often.

SV's defense exposed some EC weakness. This game wasn't as close as the score says. Congrats to SV for the win and both teams to for a tough fought game. Both are making the mountains proud. I used to think EC would win 7 out of 10 games against SV, now I would go for about 5-5. SV did a good job of shutting down Ferguson, and that was one key to this game. Justice is fast as lightning. SV is a solid team. They need to sight their radar in on those freethrows for the final game.

I thought Elliott County was one of the best teams in the country?

hollerballer Wrote:elliott is the better team when they have had rest:lmao: Dude, you are hillarious!! That has to be the most ridiculous comment I have ever heard. Elliott has had more rest in this tourney than SV, but that is still not the point. I don't have anything against SV or Elliott Co. I wish them both the best. But if Elliott Co. gets worn out that easily, then they have no chance at the Sweet Sixteen. Do you really think the KHSAA is going to give Elliott Co. an extra day between games to get ready? If you do make it to the semis at State, you should be a little tired. Then you have to play your final two games in the same day. Based on what you just said, then if Elliott loses at state, you are going to just say "if they had their rest, they are the best in the state". It doesn't work that way. The best team is the one that comes out and gets it done, not the ones that make excuses. I doubt that you are going to hear any excuses from the Elliott Co. team. They lost and they will re-group. They may beat Valley if they play again or they may not, but the point is they lost today. And Valley controlled the tempo almost the entire game. And both Elliott Co. and Valley are going to have to play much better competition to win a state title and with little rest in between. So get over it. We don't base games on if's or but's. Only on outcomes.
