Religious Questions
#1
I believe in God and am a Christian, but I have always had some questions about some things. Is it bad to question the Bible? I don't want to feel like I'm going to go to **** if I have a question about something. And I in no way intend to be a blasphemist. But is it okay to ask questions if there are things that you just don't understand?

I am not by any stretch a traditional christian. The sermon on the mount is my favorite "teaching" of all the religions I have studied. I would think any religion worth following, any god worth praising, would accept sincere questions, not condemn them. The bible is full of "close to god" people who asked tough questions. That's my opinion.

It is not bad to ask questions about things you don't understand in the bible. Just realize that we are not going to understand everything right now but that doesn't make the bible any less true. Accepting the truth of the bible, even the parts you don't understand, is where faith comes in. Hebrews ch. 11 verse 1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen". I hope this helps.

Like Cavemaster i think it's perfectly fine to question. Because you shouldn't follow something by blind faith. I'm not a christian myself but i think it's fine to ask questions

I Also Don't Have A Problem With Anyone Asking Questons About The Word Of God, I Also Beleive If We Are Sincere With Our Quetions That God Will Reveal The Answer To Us Or Maybe He Will Send Someone To You With The Answers You Are Looking For.

Maybe, You Could Go Ahead And Let Us Know Some Of Your Concerns. Just To See If It Would Help.

God Loves You!!!

Amen slugger, this is an excellent post, one that I feel captures the trues essence of faith and Christianity. Great job!

The Bible tells us to study the Bible in prayer, and God will reveal his message to us. I don't think it is a happenstance that you can get a different interpretation of virtually every single verse. I'd suggest seeing a minister for any real burning questions, get into a bible study class, and most importantly PRAY! God reveals his message to each of us in his way.

By the way, thank you for sharing such a wonderful question with us all.

I agree Stardust...study the Bible in prayer...but I do hesitate on seeing a minister...I did that for years, and unfortunately, his advice was based upon his biases and interpretation of the Bible. It wasn't until I prayed and studied on my own, let God answer the questions I had until I realized that what I thought to be Biblical, was not Biblical at all, just the opinion of someone else.

Isn't that what Sunday School and Bible Study is about?

Ever heard of Martin Luther?

Or perhaps John Calvin?

They spoke to this and that's why there are so many denominations.

Sure, if you go to church regularly. But how many people are comfortable enough to ask and challenge in the presence of others?

I'm not saying he needs to go to Bible Study to ask.

What I'm saying is if its ok to ask there then why not here.

I heard a child ask a preachers these two questions and the preacher did not have a answer for either.

Where did God come from?
Where did the force(I do not remember the word he used so I used force) that made God come from?

The Kid might have be 10 or 11.

There many questions that we can't answer. God tring to explain himself to us, is like us tring to explain ourselves to an ant. The ant is not going to understand us and were not going to understand God.

One thing that always worried me, is that what if some things got left out of the Bible? Didn't a group of people sit down and decide which books went in and which didn't? And what if things got lost in the translation? We would never know

It comes with faith and a Christian must beleive that the bible was inspirationally written. If not, then all faith is lost.

Some Good Advice In These Postings On This Subject. We Can Not Explain Everything In The Bible, Some Things Have To Be Accepted By Faith, For Example The Virgin Birth, But Do Ask Questions Of Others And Ask God, He Is With Us Always. Do Study The Bible In Whatever Setting Works For You, In Sunday School, Small Study Groups, In The Library And Do Realize All Of Us Are Sinners Yet God Loves All Of Us And Sent His Son To Pay The Penalty For Our Sins. What A Great God We Have, He Loves Us All.

I have faith and I go to church. It's not that I don't believe or trust God, because I do. There were just so many questions I had that I wanted to know what other people thought about them.

Just like a preacher gets anionted so did those people.. the book has stayed together and its gods teaching to us .. God never changes so if he was that way then hes that way now.. if it wasnt what he wanted us to know he would inter our hearts and let us know.. the last time he sent jesus to straigten out the church.. then he ended the book with revelations.. and Jesus will return

We have to accept the Bible as the true inspired book given to us from God! Could some other book have been left out? Maybe, but we can't worry about that because we don't have it. Could there have been an error in translation? Possible. But since the old manuscripts still exist and have been studied and interpreted, I think most all Bible translations get the point across. You just have to remember that we only have what we have to work with. We don't have all of the answers. Whether there are other books that might explain more, we don't really need to worry about. Just take what we have and work with it. The Bible doesn't answer every question and there are just somethings we may never be meant to understand or know the answer to. So you just have to have faith in what we have.

As for asking questions, I don't see anything wrong with that. Questions have been asked of God since the beginning. Questions were asked of Jesus while he was with us. And we all have questions too, but you just have to pray about them and study and try to find the answers. And then there is still unanswered questions that linger. No one has all the answers. Even non-believers can't answer all questions about how or why things are as they are. So they aren't in any better position than Christians, even though they may want to think that they are - like Kentucky Liberal.

How many Preachers/Preists were annointed then went on to be liars and sinners?

Annointed or not they are still human and have the propensity to make mistakes.
