Best 80's rock band: Week 3
#1
In recognition of the terrible job that the BCS has done in crowning a true national champion, I thought I would take a stab at creating an 8 team (band) tournament, ran over the next 6 weeks to crown the best 80's band.

In week 3 we have two super powers of Rock Kiss & ZZ Top. Who do you take?

Kiss is an American rock band formed in New York City in December 1972. Easily identified by its members' trademark face paint and stage outfits, the group rose to prominence in the mid and late-1970s and througout the basis of their elaborate live performances, which featured fire breathing, blood spitting, smoking guitars, and pyrotechnics. Kiss has been awarded 24 gold albums to date.[1] The group's worldwide sales exceed 85 million albums.

ZZ Top is an American rock trio formed in late 1969 in Houston, Texas, US but never hit their stride until the early 1980's. The group members are Billy Gibbons (vocals, guitar), Dusty Hill (vocals, bass, keyboards), and Frank Beard (drums, percussion). The band holds the distinction of being among the few rock bands still composed of its original recording members for nearly 40 years. ZZ Top reached peak commercial success in the late 1970s and 1980s, scoring many hit songs during that era, but they remain together today and are still touring and releasing albums.

i would have to say kiss. they put on a great concert

I went with ZZ Top. Because like you said the majority of their best stuff was done in the 70s.
ZZ Top even though I feel they did some VERY good stuff in the 70s. Their most recognized stuff was done in the 80s. Therefore, they were a better 80s band than KISS.

Have to go with Kiss on this one.

I've seen ZZ Top in concert and they are pretty good but I'd like to see KISS to see what they're like. But last time I checked, most of KISS's music was in the 70's.
