Magoffin Co. 54 - Paintsville 49
#1
Congrats to the Hornets on a nice win!

Paintsville led late in the game, but again sputtered in the 4th. The Tigers are going to have a very long season if they don't learn how to put some points on the board. The Tigers up 4 points in the second half, with the ball and do nothing during a dry spell by Magoffin. Just 50% conversion of those 4 or so possessions and the Tigers could have had as much as a 10 point lead. Summary for Paintsville again, great aggressive play and hustle, but way too many missed opportunities. Possessions are to be cherished and are to be cashed in, not thrown away. You just get so many each game!! Oh well ...... on to the next game.

Good win forMC

Way to many unforced turnovers. Bad passing decisions has killed them all season. If you are playing man-man D face gaurd the Sparks kid, deny him the ball if the refs dont call him for carrying he can get in the lane to easy. Make the rest of their team beat you instead of one player. I think the offense has been fine but the D is where the young Tigers need to improve.

If those are the free throw stats, that is a little too lopsided don't you think. Congrats to MC on the win. Keep your head up Tigers.

I'm not going to say that there D couldn't use some improving, but the Tigers do force TO's and play very aggressive. Their biggest problem is that they can't get the ball down the floor without a TO half the time and then they can't hit their shots. You can't throw the ball away (especially unforced) or miss layups or put backs. You just get so many chances. Until they can nail down the shots they are going to lose against the decent teams. To many missed opportunities.

0-5. They hung with LC at home until late, then fell apart. They had the lead at SC through much of the game but just couldn't make the shots at the end. They had the lead at Magoffin Co. late in the game and fell apart. They had leads against Magoffin at home late and fell apart. They just don't have the killer punch at the end to close the deal. They will be lucky to win a district game IMO. They might beat SC at home if it goes like the last one. But other than that, I don't see much hope. They already have lost to MC and LC 2 times. They will likely lose to JC both times. That would only leave SC at home for the regular season. They could always pull an upset in the district, but regions are out of the question. They can't get past LC or JC. If they end up playing either of them in the first round they will be one and done.

But they should only improve as they are young. Next season will hopefully be better! it is sort of ironic that they went undefeated in the district last year and this year they will most likely go winless. That is one extreme to the other. lol

You're absolutely right...that is one extreme to the other......I personally dont feel it would be this way if BMR would of played his underclassman more last year. I am in no means bashing BMR, I think he was one of the best coaches ever around these parts but when you sit someone on the bench with hardly no playing time at all....it shows the following year. Good Luck to this Paintsville team. They are young and I believe they will be back in the next year or so giving every team a battle.
