Lawrence County 2009

Batpuff Wrote:Well I dont know what you guys are doing when you reply to someones thread but there are two quotes on here that has me as the one that posted them when I wasnt.....

To start with the kid loves both Baseball and football.... He could have a real shot at playing both in college.... What might surprise you he is the best unknown at kicker. He has as strong a leg anyone around... If he could get into some kicking camps he would be really great......He has kicked one in practice from around 53 yards.. No is wasnt against pressure but still yet and that was off the ground not the block.... He just needs to work on his accuracy.
2nd as far as him not want to hit that is just crazy... The kid loves to hit and if they played him on D he would be great... The kid just has a knack of be around the ball.

The thing is he is just a kid let him play all the sports he wants and have fun while he can.

This is either the funniest thing or the craziest thing i've ever read. Were not talking about kicking in college, were talking about getting paid to play baseball and pitch in the major leagues/ How can you compare that to kicking at a small college?

Tell me if I'm wrong but this will be the largest 4 year senior class in along time!!!!Most of these Seniors have been togeather since 3rd or 4th grade...I for one am so EXCITED for these young men...We have an awesome schedule...

this is probably the biggest senior group i've seen in a real long time

I never once said anything about him not playing baseball..... All I stated was the kid just needs to have fun while in high school.... And that he would make a great kicker if worked with.

A kicker? A kicker? Do you know how many ppl can throw a baseball over 90 MPH? Not many, and especially not at that age. You can have fun and be realistic at the same time.

A person shouldn't play a game if he's afraid of getting hurt .With that said Just remember it's not him saying he's afraid of getting hurt its other people on here that is saying it. Shep loves sports in general and I for one love watching him play. And just a little info look at Labyron James when he was in High school he knew he was going to play in the NBA and make millions but he still played football. Now what kind of risk was he taken and not only did he play football he made the First team all state. Was he afraid of getting hurt? I don't know but he did what he loved to do and in an interview on ESPN he said he would not of done anything different . I hope all 13 seniors come out and play this year and a lot more seniors come out and play that hasn't been playing. But for the past 3 to 4 years for some reason we have had at lot of seniors for go there last year of ball or maybe start then quit. I hope thats not the case with this class. I can't wait to see the Dawgs back in the mix. Good luck in 09 LC

Lebron James was probably the biggest and strongest player on the field in every football game he ever played in too. Big difference. You cant even begin to compare the two.

Just comparing the situation not the guys and IMO James had millions more to lose then Shepherd. Mr. James had it waiting on him as soon as he got out of high school grantee. Shepherd has a dream waiting on him although one I feel could come true but it would be way after high school and most likely after 3 or 4 years of collage . But to get back on topic I wonder how many people was telling Lebron James not to play football?

Even the situations are different because were talking about two different parts of the world and two different types of communities and ppl. Chandler live in an area where things like Lebron don't happen, and things like chandler are not likely to happen on a regular basis either. That is why normally is doesn't matter how many sports you play because you are probably just going to get a job and settle down after high school, but this kid has a chance to make something special of his situation, and he is not big like Lebron and nor is he as athletic, he has a good arm, good feet, and he is smart, but he is not big enough to where he can withstand lots of hits on him. Comparing the two ppl or the two situations are both rediculus.

I understand partly of where you are coming from but when was the last time you saw a 6'1" quarterback playing major college football? That's a thing of the past unless you have the legs and body of say a Michael Vick. Wasn't Shephard hampered by injuries for most of this season anyways?

It always seems that once you start getting minor injuries at a young, especially in football, it seems like it never ends and your always playing hurt for the rest of your career. It is so hard to rehabilitate during the season because there are only a short amount of games you play and nobody wants to sit out to get better and miss weeks of practice as well as games because before you realize your feeling better, the season's over, so you end up playing hurt or just quitting all together.

Chandler is not Lebron. Nuff said.

ol'dad07 Wrote:The play calling was HORRIBLE!!!!!!...Lets just hope LC decides to use Shepard's arm a little more this season. I don't believe the rushing game is going to be powerful but I can see it being fast. I don't think LC will have any problem getting the recievers out in front, so that just leaves it up to Shepard to get them the ball. Their passing game will be a big threat if they just put work and practice time into it

Honestly the only thing Shepard needs to use his arm in this year is baseball... I think we should toughen up the line and run it.
#43
This year should be a definite improvement from last year. I hear coach Sammons is going to continue to run the spread as well as some other offensive stuff to utlilize our speed. We will have at least 15 seniors this year with around the same or more juniors. You can't expect to have a winning record when you have a first year coach who throws all the old ways from the past few years away and has a schedule of teams that went to state or deep into the regional tourny....

I AGREE ALSO I AGREE VERY MUCH WITH THIS POST THIS GUY AND LCCHEERCHICK. I AGREE LIKE I JUST SAID. LAWRENCE COUNTY HAS MUCH MUCH TALENT STORED IN PLACES THAT I DONT KNOW WHERE ARE BUT THEY WILL BE GOOD NEXT YEAR. I PROMISE. THEY WILL BE GOOD NEXT YEAR NO MATTER WHAT IN MY OPINION. BUT THAT IS JUST MY OPINION AND I AM A VERY RELIABLE SOURCE SO I WOULD SAY THAT MY OPINION IS PROBABLY A PRETTY GOOD OPINION TO GO WITH. LAWRENCE COUNTY WILL BE GOOD NEXT YEAR I BET. WAIT AND WATCH AND PREDICT AND SEE.

In years past they have been a powerhouse to reckon with...and the past few years they have slowly declined....are they going to make a comeback?

LC has so much speed and talent to work with...but where are they hiding it?

:flame: We sure are.

Were going to be good but we need to work hard this offseason, if we dont then never think about good. They need to run alot this season coming with Shane Pack, Hunter James, and Matt Marcum.

Heck , I didn't initiate this stuff. You would probably have to ask the guy that started the whole Lebron James thing to begin with. I believe he was an LC fan, wasn't he? Sure he was!!! Since your on that comical high right now, perhaps you can just continue sitting around the rest of the night and cackle at him to your little hearts content . Smile

Us?......We?......lol.....I thought you said you were from Covington Catholic? You move back? Smile

Hey, I know where you are coming from when it comes to your worldwide fan base. People everywhere are always talking about your 1-21 record over the last two years. "Dawgmania" has apparently taken over the world. It's become quite the phenomenom. Cant blame anybody for wanting to be a part of that , can you? Smile

What he has is a legitimate potential chance to be considered, it aint guaranteed. There may not be many kids around here that can do what he does at his age, but worldwide there are a bunch of them. Remember kids get drafted out of all of Latin America, China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, etc., too. and you have to compete with all of them. Would be a shame for him to blow that potential chance though.

Play small college football?...hmmm, a bunch of you Lawrence Co. fans post on here that he shouldn't even be the QB of his high school team, and then some others say he should be in the NFL. Listening to you guys is better than watching Saturday Night Live.Big Grin

You seem to know so much, maybe you could tell me who had more D1 football players in the past 15 years?? And yeah he got honorable mention all-state as a freshman only to get beat out by a guy that got drafted out of high school. Thats pretty big stakes for a freshman dont you think. Confusedhh:

Because you don't know of any D1 players from there??? Smile So then you try to make up for it by saying something like that.

Here we are talking about something else and then you come out of the blue and start rambling on about something that has absolutely nothing to do with what is being taked about.Rolleyes

There has got to be some kind of mind decaying bacteria in the water in Louisa.
