Thoughts on LC football this upcoming season
In years past they have been a powerhouse to reckon with...and the past few years they have slowly declined....are they going to make a comeback?
LC has so much speed and talent to work with...but where are they hiding it?

I think they will make a good comeback..They need to hit the weightroom hard..

we can only hope they make a comeback....to at least have a winning record....
could different coaching become helpful???

I don't think coaching is the problem at LC.

The problem at LC is the parents get in the way to much....always crying to the coaches bout there kids not getting to play an stuff....the coaches allow this to go on... The results of this are all the kids start thinking they can do whatever they want like they have authority over the coaches cause there 'arents are so and so

Even when I went to LC it was like this. If your last name wasn't such and such, guess what?... You get to be a bench warmer. Sad to say but this is the truth whether anyone likes it or not. I believe if the parents aren't satisfied with the kids playing time, transfer out.... If the bulldogs want a winning record, they're going to have to put in some valuable practice time, working out the "talent" they have, instead of leaving it on the bench.

I agree and it's been like this for years. It's sad to say, but it is ways things are. Another thing I saw this season that might have some factors, is playing calling. I'm not sure of the play caller.. but playing calling was terrible in every game I watched.

The play calling was HORRIBLE!!!!!!...Lets just hope LC decides to use Shepard's arm a little more this season. I don't believe the rushing game is going to be powerful but I can see it being fast. I don't think LC will have any problem getting the recievers out in front, so that just leaves it up to Shepard to get them the ball. Their passing game will be a big threat if they just put work and practice time into it

I believe that we are going to make a complete turn around this season. The boys are working hard in the weight room every day right now and I can see great improvement coming.

I'm on the football team. We have alot of work to do. Hit the weights thats all I have to say.

Good luck defiant, hard work in the off season gets results.

Just remember Kiser was just a freshman, would it be better with Kiser at QB and Chandler RB with all his speed.
01-09-2009, 03:26 AM
The fans need to realize that they haven't had near the talent there that they used to have. Speed and line have been WAY down!!!They had multiple division 1 players and kids that played 4 years at schools like Georgetown. There hasn't been a single kid in 4 years that could go to GTown even much less D1 like the kids in the 90's.
I don't buy the playing favorites. Do you really think Sammons would back down from a parent. He is the biggest coach in eastern ky. They should turn Cecil lose with the defense (I know he was a good coach at Russell) and Preece with tjhe offense (been around great coaches).
This team is going to do good things this year i think.

Well LC has some work to do there is no doubt about that.... The play calling wasnt bad for a first year coach...... You have to run the ball to throw the ball..... We have a great back coming back next year in Shane pack... Also with Hunter James coming on late in the year helps take the load off of Shane..... Chandler and Hayden both have great qualities but to put Chandler at running back is just crazy.....If anything he would need to play WR...... I really think we need to change some things up on D if we are going to win..... Everyone needs to look at the schedule we played last year with only 4 SR that played and 2 of them were first year players..... We have a schedule that we can get some wins and need to get that taste back.... Good Luck Lawrence Co!!!!!

I have to agree.....putting Chandler at RB is crazy.....putting him at WR would be good...he's fast and tall, probably needs lots of practice at this position though?...You also need to look into the possibilities of Shane Pack as the "go to" guy...put the ball in his hands and I can see good things happening.

Is all about the offense?? Without the defense this year the scores would have been a whole lot worse. We need more hard nosed players like Kyle Whitt and Mike West. That's how LC is going to win games in '09

well....the scores would have been much better had LC had an offensive game....we can only hope their offense will work harder this year....

Chandler reminds me alot of Jason Spradlin. Get Chandler the ball anyway you can and he will do the rest, just like they did Spradlin a few years ago. I'd like to see Shephard play every position on offense. If I were the coach, I'd put Pack at fullback and James at TB.

Chandler's future is in baseball, and he is at the age now where that is what he needs to concentrate on that. He has a great shot at getting paid to play that game, and it would be ashame to see something come in between that.

I agree with you on that. If I had that much talent in a sport I would concentrate on that one sport and not take the chance of getting hurt in football. He seems to love the game of football too tho.

I guess you can't really knock him for that because i remember when i was that age i always wanted to play everything i could.

They need to give it every play...It seem like they dont..

Chandler is fast...but i dont think he needs to play safety because he dont like to hit nobody... you gotta want to hit on defense

i agree....i believe he's a great offensive player who doesn't need to be on "D"
i also believe he should concentrate more on his baseball than football....although the bulldogs football probably couldn't afford to lose him

To me. I dont think it would matter...hayden and chandler are both good.. maybe as of even..chandler has the advange of being faster though..but hayden will take a hit.. so whatever.

Well I dont know what you guys are doing when you reply to someones thread but there are two quotes on here that has me as the one that posted them when I wasnt.....
To start with the kid loves both Baseball and football.... He could have a real shot at playing both in college.... What might surprise you he is the best unknown at kicker. He has as strong a leg anyone around... If he could get into some kicking camps he would be really great......He has kicked one in practice from around 53 yards.. No is wasnt against pressure but still yet and that was off the ground not the block.... He just needs to work on his accuracy.
2nd as far as him not want to hit that is just crazy... The kid loves to hit and if they played him on D he would be great... The kid just has a knack of be around the ball.
The thing is he is just a kid let him play all the sports he wants and have fun while he can.

I agree with you on everything besides the part where it says "have fun while you can". I'm not saying not to play football because I enjoy watching him play, but what if he had a career ending injury and never got the chance to do great things in baseball like I think he will. I think Shep can play in the bigs one day and for him to lose that on a injury would be terrible.

Chan is an asset to the team along with the 13 returning seniors!!! Tell me if I'm wrong but this will be the largest 4 year senior class in along time!!!!Most of these Seniors have been togeather since 3rd or 4th grade...I for one am so EXCITED for these young men...We have an awesome schedule...

I'm trying to figure out anybody can say "he won't take a hit". Did you not attend any games this year? He took hit after hit. Remember the Belfry game? The Rowan game? He was hit to death resulting in a shoulder injury.
He used to play both sides of the ball and not only was fast enough to catch his opponent, didn't mind at all to take em down. I remember one the pre-season scrimmages this past year and he cleaned a kids clock. Problem was the staff DARED him to do it again.
He is still just a kid and no doubt he struggles with giving up one love for another. Maybe next season, he have stronger protection or the plays will be called differently and he can run with the ball before he gets killed?
Who knows, by then, maybe Hayden will earn the starting position?
