I've head from several people that the ECU fans were rude and cocky.
If you went to the Liberty Bowl, what was your impression of the ECU fans?

I was in Section 102 on the 35 yard line of ECU's sideline.
I didn't have a major problem with them... they were no Alabama fanbase by any means (by far the classiest group I have encountered) but they treated us very nice..congratulating the win and wishing us a safe trip. Every fan base have their drunken idiots... from what I saw ECU had no more or no less of those than your typical UK home game would.
A select group did act like fools during "My Old Kentucky Home", but by and large I had no major issue with the ECU fans.

As for being cocky.... over 81% of america expected ECU to win this game... I think they were fairly confident as well they should be.

That is completely different. UT plays Rocky Top every time they score. It is not the state song of Tennessee.
My Old Kentucky Home is only played before and sometimes after a game. It is the state song and a song of reverance.
There is no Comparison. Heckeling during Rocky Top is like Heckeling during the C A T S Cats Cats Cats cheer.

Actually if you want to get extremely techincal about it there have been several TN state songs adopted since 1925. Rocky Top was adopted as the state song in 1982, the latest state song was adopted in 1996. So yea I would say there is a comparison between the two, and I think you are just being confrontational by even arguing that point, but if you still don't believe me I even looked up a link for you.

No I'm not being confrontational about it. I wasn't going to get extremely technical either.
My Old Kentucky Home is played in the same spirit as the Star Spangled Banner. How about I say it is the state anthem instead of song.
Thats great that the state of Tennessee actually adopted Rocky Top as one of its state songs. Still not THE state song.
UT plays that song to death. Every time they score, which in the past has been alot against UK. It is more of a cheer than a song that shows respect for the state.
I do maintain my point that there is no comparison, or at best a very slim comparison.

Haha! I think it's a pretty obvious comparison when they are both state songs, and just because UK doesn't play as much as TN plays Rocky Top is hardly an adequate argument.
That is fine, i have no problem with you maintaining that stance, but I will also maintain the stance that I think you nitpick to death on here and try and get pointless arguments stirred up, and just lilke this one, I think it's a little rediculus.

FWIW, when I went to the UK/UT game me and my buddy intentionally counted the number of times we heard "Rocky Top" as sort of an inside joke.
After the number got over 10 times we were too disgusted to care any more.
The Vols don't just play that at the start and end of a game... they play it after every momentous play. I would tend to compare that song more to "On, On U of K".

Still doesnt do it much justice on how much it is played lol. When I went to the UT/UK game back in 2006 I was sitting with the UK traveling section in the corner of the end zone. Well some time during the 3rd quarter a few of their trumpet players got on one of those balcony things right behind us and then the whole band started up and it make me sick.

So are you just arguing because I had a point a view that you could buck or because you actually believe in that Rocky Top is some sort of revered song that deserves respect?
By the way I didn't start this discussion. I only agreed with a point made by another member.
You have a nice day.

There I added a poll to see how Rocky Top is viewed. I still see it as more of cheer than anything that commands respect.

It has nothing to do with liking you, why does everbody take everything so personal on here? Everytime somebody has an opinion that doesn't agree with theirs they immediately think they have something against them, maybe somebody just has a different opinion? Did you ever think of that? I could care less about Rocky Top, but as soon as I made that post you immediately turned it into a "know it all" session when it didn't have to be. So that's why i came back with what I did. My God your as bad as some of these kids that get on here.....

I maintain my position on the difference between Rocky Top and My Old Kentucky Home.

I have read this thread a couple of times and just let things slide but I felt it necessary to respond to this comment.
What are you talking about being deleted? The only post that has been deleted is one that I started and got busy and never finished.
Maybe you want to get all the facts before you start calling people out?

So you can just change the votes with how you want them? I mean as if this wasn't rediculus enough I had no idea it was fixed?
