oh well Smile
TigerBait,

We get it!!!!!!!! You are against holdbacks. Do you really think you are going to change people's minds about this issue??????? Just as I'm sure that no one will change your mind about it.

Didn't you promise about 5 or 6 posts ago that you had better things to do than keep posting. LET IT GO!!!!!

Ultimately, it's a parents choice. Deal with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No i don't think "we" get it. I am not against holdbacks it is the lame excuses people use why they do it. no i am not trying to change peoples minds just trying to get them to be honest and quit using lame excuses why they do it.

No "I didn't promise anything".

I agree it is the parent's choice and i said i respect that they just don't like to hear when someone tells them stuff they don't want to hear. start admitting the true reason why they holdback their kids it is trying to get the next o j mayo and we all know it just admit it. DEAL WITH THAT!!!!!!!!!

down that way. i had no idea things are the way they are. so please accept my apology.

So from now on if i get on somebody for their lame excusues for holding kids back i will ask first where they are from. the mountians have a legit reason for doing it. sorry again guys i really didn't know.:o :o

Perhaps an extra year in school wouldn't have hurt you either tigerbait. Perhaps you could have learned proper grammar and capitalization. Your "apolochize" excepted. Smile

You haven't proven anything. You have simply stated an opinion, as all the rest on here has. You obviously feel very strong about this issue and that's O.K. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Where do your kids attend school? Our coach is looking for games next year. Big Grin

That may be true Mama Bear but I made it through the first time I didn't need to be held back.Wink

I seriously doubt that you have a team that could hang with the the team my son plays for.Wink . No mine is not the star either I thought about holding him back.

And one more thing. I AM NOT AGAISNT HOLDBACKS JUST THE LAME EXCUSES PEOPLE USE WHY THEY DO IT.

I have proven everything people are too proud to admitt it. You and my good friend Lambert know I am telling it like it is. That is why you guys fall apart when I offer a legitiment counterpoint.

Merry Christmas to all of my "Mountian Friends". I really do like you guys.

Talk about my grammar.
All we are saying TigerBait is that we listen to your opinion over and over and have not been condescening but you push people to that point. Just in case you didn't pick it up MamaBear was pointing out to you (The holy keeper of the holdback rule) that you did not spell apologize correctly. See, you tend to bring out the worst in people. What in the he-- are you talking about people from the mountains have an excuse for holding their people back. I for one would send an open invitation from Letcher County for a ballgame next year if your looking for one. Just get up with Coach Howard and get that game scheduled, maybe you can come down to the mountains as you so affectionately refer and play a little game, shoot call Coach Woods over in Harlan County and I'm sure he'd gladly schedule one with you guys so that you can see that we are not breeding a group of drop-outs by holding our kids back. Both of these programs will show you the benefits of holding a kid back.

Lambert how many times must I say it is not the holdback rule. As far as you guys wanting some of our 8th grade team just ask around how good Irontons team is. They have destroyed every team they have played. The biggest part of them are KY teams. You put both these programs best players together and Ironton would still smoke them. We have holdbacks too. A lot of people say the want some then after they get they don't want anymore.
As far as an excuse tha people from the mountians have by holding their kids back I didn't understand then but I do now. Let's let it go at that.
If telling the truth is wrong I don't want to be right. Let's be real we know why players are held back and it is for sports. That's OK just tell the truth why.
I didn't get on here calling specific people dirty names or make fun of someone's grammar.Sounds like to me some people are bad and do not need my help in "Bringing out the worse in them".
Most of you Mountian folk  are alright in my book. I apologize to you.
I saw that Ironton team play last year against my Comets and it was bad. And your right Ironton does have holdbacks, I agree most holdbacks are for sports, they are here, but to me thats Ok, sometimes there is more to it than sports, and I think Tigerbait, that is what there saying its still your opinion that people hold there kids back just for sports. and thats JMO!!!!!!!!

I agree with everything you say here Comet. I said about 99% was for sports. Also I have stated that if a child is held back for other reason's then the problem needs to be overcome instead of worring about sports. And I applaude parents for doing it.And Comet There have been admissions by some on here by some that is why they did it.So it is not just my opinion. People are just upset that I call them on it. I don't know how to say it to where people can understand it. So I will say it again EVERYBODY READ SLOWLY SO YOU MAY UNDERSTAND. I TIGER BAIT SEE NOTHING WRONG WITH HOLDING A KID BACK FOR SPORTS. JUST TELL THE TRUTH THAT IT IS THE REASON FOR DOING IT.

I have 3 kids neither one has every been held back for any reason, but you have PROVEN NOTHING. You simply have an opinion. And obviously some of us on here don't agree with your OPINION..
JMO Cool YTB has proven enough. Its just 20 against 2 on this topic and you all think that we will  shut upRolleyes or lay down  and take it, but that won't happen.:dontthink so

If you have no one involved then why are you in here stirring it up for? The last time it started to cool off you got it started up.
I said I understood why people in the mountian's do so many holdbacks I even apologized for it but oh no some have to keep it going with name calling and ridiculing a persons grammar. If that is the way some of you folks want to play it i'm game.

You, Tigerbait made the assumption that "mountain folk" needed holdbacks due to educational purposes. You have an opinion WHICH you have stated nonstop for the last 3 pages of posts. We ALL know what you believe and what your thoughts are on this topic. Please, make no more assumptions towards us mountain people.... I myself am one and am VERY proud of it. I do know proper grammar and use capitalization in a proficient way due to my "mountain" education. Either keep this on topic, dicuss this with an open mind, value each opinion and kindly agree to disagree with others or.........this one is going to be a thing of the past.

Just for the sake of topic discussion:
I do think that holdbacks for certain reasons are very much a needed thing. Boys for one do not mature as quickly as girls, both mentally and physically. Don't get me wrong, I feel that a young lady/man with a 4.0 GPA and straight distinguished on their CATS tests should NOT be held back UNLESS they are either too young or had to miss a lot of school due to an illness or accident. I know homebound schooling is an option BUT the children who are placed on homebound miss a LOT of essential things during a school year. Social interaction is imperative to the maturity of young teens. I could have held my own son back due to his age. He will graduate at 17 years of age. That is young!! He is NOT as mature as the older children in his class either BUT he is very intelligent and is very active in sports. WHY should I punish him just because of his birthdate? Anyway, I hope this gets the thread back on topic.

And do you have someone involved? Is that why it bothers you so much why people hold their kids back? I know people who have held their children back. Their reasons for doing so is none of our business. You said you had proven your point. Well not to me and obviously many others. I am from the mountains and very proud of it. I neither called you a name or ridiculed your grammar. I have an opinion and you haven't changed it. I agree to disagree with you.
I wasn't the one that brought the grammar subject up first and I didn't make fun of anyone for their grammar. Also I was not the one who started the foul name calling either. I know the majority of the people are mountian and I guess it is alright for them to say whay ever they want.
It was an assumption that I was questioning the educational practices of the people of the mountians.I never said it was nor would I ever stero type any group on that subject.
I think the last part of your post was dead on I respect it very much.

Anyways back on topic they are very good reasons to and not to hold kids back.
