Congrats to Monte.
Kicking for a D-1 school is a feat regardless of who it is

Congrats to Monte, would rather see him go to a bigger school though.
I'm tired of hearing about money, money, money, money, money. I just want to play the game, drink Pepsi, wear Reebok -Shaquille O'Neal

You know it's good to see kids from the mountains getting shots to play on saturdays. This kid is good and it would have been great to see him playing on espn on saturdays, but the main thing is he's getting his school paid for. I heard a report that a lot of the major schools want kickers and punters to walk on to save on scholarships. This may be the reason he didn't go to a bigger school, like Kentucky. After the way our field goal unit at UK has been over the last 2 years, I would think that he would be a pretty good investment though.
Anyway, congrats on the ride.

UK already has 3 kickers on scholly, its too bad he couldn't find a way to goto UK for one year before recieving a scholarship. IMO I would have toughed it out that first year for a shot to kick in the SEC, get more exposure, better facilities and coaching. Also, it looks as though UK is going to be very very good during his college career, I would want to be part of that. If UK is very good, playing in high profile games and he is kicking for them, well, better shot at the NFL one day.

I agree with your post in some aspects but others I dont. WKU will be a D-1 school next season thus the opportunity to play in bowl games and such will be there. Also the cream rises to the top regardless of where its at. And lastly, I personally spoke with Monte and of all the places he visited he told me that WKU's facilites were among the best if not the best!

WKU has landed a good kicker and just think he is from Eastern Ky.,that kinda makes it better when someone from here in the mountians makes it in the west end of the state,UK usually over looks a lot of good KY boys and thats where i think they have let the state down ,lot more tickets would be sold if they had few more ole Ky Boys there playing, and i will say i am glad to see WKU go after a few KY Boys too!!!
