With all of this talk about who the best offensive player and the best offensive team makes me wonder who's defense is going to be able to stop them who are some of the best defensive players and defensive teams in the mountains?

One of the best defensive teams against the run is sheldon clark. There defensive line and linebackers are some of the best ive seen get too the ball excluding the game against lawrence. They held lynn camps backs to only 14 points.Thats impressive When talking about the high caliber backs lynn camp boasts

The best defense in the mountains would have to be Ashland.. Pikeville not too shabby either.

Paintsville shouldn't be proud of their points allowed based on the competition they've played.Face it, they really haven't faced real competition yet

Good luck when that Blackcat crosses your path in a week. I'll say it now, Prestonsburg is not as terrible as the SC fans think bottomline. When you guys slaughter Prestonsburg then we'll talk but I don't see it happening.
Paintsville hasn't played anyone. Hazard hasn't either then. Pikeville hasn't either then, except for the one team that beat them.

southwestern has only lost 2 games allowing only 55 points and both losses are by 3 to danville and george rogers clark and they very soundly beat a pretty good south laurel team

I thought Sheldon Clark's defense looked good two, but two out of the three high caliber backs for LC, Josh Reynolds and Joe Roskopf didn't play against SC. Both were out due to sickness.

Pikeville Defense has been better than I expected this year and has to be one of the top Defenses in the Mountains right now. NCC put up around 40 on them in week 1 but since then they have shutout Corbin, Allen Central, and South Floyd and Prestonsburg scored 7 on them late in the 4th quarter with the starters out of the game. The defense has been a bright spot IMO but this weeks game at Belfry will provide a good read on how much the defense has improved since the NCC game.

Some times a good non-district beating is just what the doctor ordered for a talented team like Paul Blazer...Good luck to the Tomcats the rest of the way....I am feeling a Ashland-Bell County Region Title Game in the near future.
