I just did not like the fact that he was asking about my personal life. It would be like me asking him how his wife is. I think it was disrespectful.

I agree with that approach as well. Great point
I do disagree with prying into one's personal life or condeming someone. It is not our job to judge.As I mentioned earlier it is our job to plant the seed and let God do the rest. However stepping on some toes sometimes is required I myself have never been led to do that. One can plant a seed by simply saying God has made a beautiful day or God bless you or simply telling a person about an upcoming church event. To me those are the least threating approaches.God won't force people to follow him.He can make you uncomfortable though and it's not much fun. Like the hymm say's "Softley and Tenderly Jesus is calling". It is up to the person to accept or resist.
We want to turn people on to Jesus not off.Some people will be receptive others won't.
