What gyms/counties do you guys think are the hardest for opposing teams to play in?

Prestonsburg and Valley are the two toughest plases to play IMO. There are a couple of others that are also tough to play such as Pikeville, Hazard, Paintsville, and Allen Central.

No offense, but Prestonsburg and Shelby Valley are not in this same league in this one. Shelby Valley never loses at home. I'm not sure of the exact number but they have only lost there a time or two in the last several years.

You most definatley must throw Powell County into this mix.

Shelby Valley should easily dominate this conversation. Numbers don't lie when it comes to this.
Shelby Valley hasn't lost at home since February 2004 against Lexington Catholic.
They are 49-2 at home since the 2003-2004 season.
It goes back farther than that though......
Shelby Valley is 101-8 at their home court since the start of the 1999-2000 season.
That is very impressive.

From my experience the toughest place to walk out with a win is Perry Co. Central

Good research Alfus. Shelby Valley's last loss was to a top team in the state in 2004, Lexington Catholic. Just the mere fact the Catholic came to Valley shows the respect they have for the program.
FACT: You don't walk into Shelby Valley thinking you're going to win.

I guess for me it would depend on the hardest place to play in which aspect. Fan wise versus hardest to walk out with a win because of home court advantage would vary.

wow that is really impressive 101-8 at home....that has to be one of the best if not the best in the state from 1999-present

I would say Paintsville, Shelby Valley, and of course, Rupp Arena. lol

I am bias. One place that I would like to mention is the Logan Memorial Fieldhouse located in Logan,WV. When I was in high school in the late 80's early 90's we were 48-0 at home. Shelby Valley is definately a difficult place to play and Paintsviile has to

With all due respect to SV, I don't think there is any doubt that Clay County has been the toughest place to play for quite some time. Men have been arrested for much less than some of the acts that have been pulled off over there by officials.

Hazard is a tough one.
I'm tired of hearing about money, money, money, money, money. I just want to play the game, drink Pepsi, wear Reebok -Shaquille O'Neal

If you are talking statewide, go to a Big game at the Mason Co. Fieldhouse. I would think most opposing players would be very intimidated. Very few leave with a W also...
12-13-2008, 04:25 PM
Hazard and PCC!!! Both tough places to play and get a W.
12-13-2008, 04:28 PM
A sold out Boyd County Middle School is tough, no matter the status of Boyd County's team.
Mason Co. is probably the hardest though.

Shelby Valley can't be beaten at home. They are easily the toughest place to play in eastern Kentucky. No questions asked.

Cordia is a tough place to play. The gym sits down in a hole. And it doesn't seat many people. You dress downstairs in classrooms. I've seen several teams make the climb back up the steep steps after leaving the gym with their heads hung low after being feasted on by the Lions.

It was a tough place to play!!! At least in the 1990's it was, run-n-stun lions!!

He had one of the loudest voices I ever heard at a game, and he hollered the entire game. Everyone moved away from where he sat for fear of permanent hearing damage.

I agee....BC is tough at home! But to my knowledge Mason is as hard or harder to beat at home than any team in the state!!! And they don't shy from top teams!!!!! Some posters on here need to leave the 15th region and experience basketball thoughout the state!!!!!!!!!!! If you want to hate on me, that's fine.......But, name the last 15th team that walked into the Mason Fieldhouse????????????????????????????????

I have never been to hazard for a ball game, but i hear it is a tough place to play. Also i have heard that there fans are very intimidating with there chants.

In my opinion it is very hard to win at painstville, too much tradition.

I believe the toughest places to play are at Perry Central, Knott Central, Larwence Co, and Valley for sure.. I think the 14th region has most of the worst places though.. One game Powell was a nightmare for a 15th region team I remember
12-15-2008, 05:48 PM
Perry and Hazard are some hard gyms to come out of with a W
12-15-2008, 06:06 PM
Not really sure of the numbers so don't jump on me for it.
But if I remember correctly when Eastern beat PRP in 2003 behind Rondo's 41 points, PRP had a 116-game home winning streak snapped.

Shelby Valley
Paintsville
Allen Central
Johnson Central
Prestonsburg
Pikeville
