Great to see that Channing Fugate made the cut.

First team all-state as a junior? Absolutely, that's incredible and well deserved! Congrats Channing Fugate!

I agree. He will possibly be hearing from some big time colleges. IF he plays a great game in Louisville who knows who might send and offer!

Well, hmm looks like Finch and Fugate are one and two at the running back position in the state.

When I saw Fugate play as a soph. I thought that he was a very special back. Making first team all state is very good. Keep in mind these were the AP guys and they just don't vote for players on this side of the state as a rule. That makes it even more special in my opinion.

I hate to be a homer but Jesse Rose (Powell) should've got some mention at LB. IMO

This is Austin Collinsworth 2nd go around on the All State team and he is only a Junior.
He was All State as a sophmore also. He would be in a very elite group if he made it three years.

Congrats to John Evans and Bobby Partin of Middlesboro for Honorable Mention.
Not even an Honorable Mention for Hunter Adams is absolutely absurd.

Breathitt has one All-State player on the first and second team. Central has three! Breathitt's one All-State player is on offense. Central's three are on defense! Foreshadowing? Uh oh!:howdy:

Now that remains to be seen!
I will take nothing away from Fugate (congrats to him). He is a good player with nice size, good feet and speed, but he has seen nothing like the swarm of the Yellowjackets! This defense of Central's is the best in the state in 3A football.

Can't understand Richardson from JC not getting mentioned at all. Go figure on that one.

I know everyone thinks their school or player deserves to be on the team. Richardson should have been an automatic choice. He put up big numbers in a tough 5A schedule and no one really stopped him. The AP does not consider mountain players. Richardson will continue his great scholastic and football work at the next level.
Glad to see Fugate made first team. Always root for out mountian players.

Do you think there was a misunderstanding in the voting as Nathan Dillon made the honorable mentioned.

I think its a little strange that John Little gets hon. men. on D.L. and never played a down on defense all year????????

Dillion had a great year too. I do not think so, but if they did it shows how little interest the AP has in our area. How could you miss someone with his stats! I think he was the leading rusher in the state.
12-11-2008, 05:20 PM
Its a nice honor but kind of ridiculous. Most of the AP guys have never seen these players except for the ones that they may cover directly. Thats not many. Its the same with any other all-state team or poll. Most of it is based on reputation and word of mouth.
Congratulations to all who got mentioned.

Yes, Dillon did have a very good year and should be in the mix next year if he continues to develop this year like he has the past two years.

I seriously doubt it, we'll find out tomorrow.

No Hunter Adams?

BlackcatAlum Wrote:No Hunter Adams?Nope. There are alot of players that could make a case. But its impossible for the people voting to see everyone. Especially with the AP when they do not live in an area with alot of media coverage.

Looks like quite a few teams got over looked. JC, Belfry, and Bell should have had a few more kids on there. Not just on the HM list. Sad really how over looked some areas are.
12-11-2008, 08:37 PM
I was kinda surprised with the kid from Clay County (QB) just getting an honorable mention.

We don't have one on second team.

Congrats Channing Fugate. I am stunned that either Randy Webb, Gary Hall or Corey Coleman didn't make an honorable mention/

AP is a joke. Glad to see some Bobcats make it but nobody will remember except themselves in 10 years. They will however remember every play of the game on Saturday forever!!!!!

He was saying that on the first two teams, there is only one Breathitt County player.
