LCHS took advantage when PHS had 3 starters on the bench in foul trouble and took a 4 point advantage and blew it into a 13 point lead in the last 40 seconds of the third. Was a great game til then, PHS never got closer than 10 points after that. Glad to see the Tigers fight til the end though.
Congrats Dawgs and keep working hard Tigers...it will come.

lc closed the third quarter with excellence. they are capable of playing like that all the time and should be a pretty good team to watch this year...good job to both teams

Congrats to the Dawgs on a tough district win. Paintsville is a tough place to win anyway and put the fact that this is a district game very good win!

You are getting no excuses for Paintsville from me as I think they are the #5 team in the district at least right now. BUT...... if I was you and considering that LC only had a 3 point lead late in the 3rd and only put the game out of reach after the Tigers had foul trouble, I don't think I'd be throwing words out there like HANDS DOWN best team in the district! LC didn't impress me much at all. Maybe they are capable of playing better and the next time I see them they might, but I expected to see a blowout of a young inexperienced Tiger team and to be honest this game was fairly close with the exception of the 5-6 TO's that LC laid for 10-12 points at the end of the 3rd and beginning of the 4th Qtrs.

Well the blowout you were expecting to see happened considering the Dawgs won by 17. That sounds pretty decisive to me! Also LC had control all through the game. Pikeville is better than expected though.

I watched the game until halftime and went over to the JC and SC game. LC has a good team if they can keep some of their players under control and play team ball . The #0 and #2 are not team players there are bad ball hogs. That will hurt the rest of the team.

Haha this makes me laugh. I believe someone is a little jealous. But them two play to win and they will do whatever it takes to win.

First off your either a jealous player or a hater of the two. Secondly them two love the game just about as anyone can and would do anything to win. Thirdly if you have a problem with them maybe u should say something to there face and stop hidin who u really are on a computer because thats as low as u can get.:

#0 and #2 for lc are great team players..they are definitely not out on the court for themselves, so keep those thoughts to your self. remember we are talking about high school athletes? there is no need to point individuals out and bash them

No offense intended, and I'm not taking up for Paintsville at all, but there was no blowout until Paintsville players (I won't mention names) gave LC about 5-6 uncontested layups off of turnovers in the span of about 2 minutes of the game. Other than that, it remained fairly close. Also, Paintsville fouled at the end for whatever reason because they couldn't obviously win, and that increased the margin. This game was definitely no blowout. A blowout is where a team dominates another. That didn't happen in this game as I had expected. Lawrence Co. is for certain the better team, but I expected a better game out of them than what I seen. And I will agree that Lawrence Co. had the upper hand most of the game, but the Tigers were within just a few points through 3 quarters and even had the lead a couple of times. That is not as much control as I would want if I were the coach of Lawrence Co. The kind of play from Lawrence last night won't win you many games against the better district and regional teams. But at least the Dawgs have squeaked their way to a 2-0 record which will help.
The way I see the district now:
JC
x
Lawrence Co.
Sheldon Clark
Magoffin Co.
x
Paintsville

Even though the tigers lost i still have to give Josh Green a thumbs up since he had 28pts. GOOD LUCK TIGERS!!!

You have made very good points. And i agree that Lawrence Co. could have played a lot better basketball but imo they came into the game expecting to blow Paintsville out and with that mindset you see games like this one or even upsets. I do believe that when playing a better opponent they will play better. I guess only time can tell. I think Paintsville's team played hard just like they always have and the crowd was loud like always. I wouldn't say that it was the players fault who were in during the LC run because the starters even struggled against the 3/4 court press that LC was in. But Paintsville is always a great place to watch basketball.

Yes he had a great game! That is going to be necessary with the rebounding that was lost with Tyler and Jordan quitting the team. Nice game and he deserves the recognition. Keep playing hard!

I'd have to agree with your assessment. LC is going to have to step it up is the point I guess I was trying to make if they want to challenge for the district like they are capable of doing. It will take a better effort than they gave in the Paintsville game, but they do have a fairly good team and are off to a good start even though not playing their best right now.
And as for Paintsville, they are going to struggle this year, but they can and are capable of giving teams a tough game and actually knocking off a few teams here and there. Losing Tyler and Jordan didn't help, but the Tigers still have depth even though the entire team lacks experience. But the big thing the Tigers must first learn is to take care of the ball. Way to many TO's in the last 2 games, and even the Morgan Co. scrimmage game. If they can limit the TO's they would be a much better team.
