Russell Panorama Nov 25th
#1
Rose Hill vs *******

Rusell vs Bracken County

Elliott County vs Clark County

Greenup County vs Mason County

I'm sorry I can't remember who Rose Hill is playing. Never the less it will be a great night of basketball with three of the top teams in the state participating. I believe the first game starts at 5:30

What time does Elliot play?

7:30 I believe.

I'm getting ready to head over there now.

I think the first game started at 4:30

second game 6:00

third game 7:30

fourth game 9:00

I believe that is how it is lined up.

Elliott County 86 Clark County 65

Elliott just tore them apart. It was very impressive. You guys can laugh and say what you want but I'm telling you Elliott County might just be the best team in the state.

Wish I could have attended... FBall, how did the younger Knipp look?

Mason County was very impressive as well. Middlton is great. The Royals have replaced what they lost last year very nicely. They will be a force.

Clark County despite the loss is also very impressive. Zollo is big and strong, runs the court well but needs to work on his footwork.

Russell is very young and small but improved from last season. They play at a good pace and shoot the three pretty well. A physical team will over power them though. Ballhandling is the main weakness.

Braken County had some size but not alot of skill. They were down 22 I think and them made a late comeback before Russell held them off.

Greenup County despite the score is not a bad team. They have some size and kids that can get up and down the floor. They are very young though and need to get stronger.

I only got to see the last few minutes of the Rose Hill/Lewis County game so I can't really say to much about either of those teams.

Knipp looked great. He really out played Zollo. He made the play of the night taking the ball on the wing and dunking right over top of two Clark County players. There was a collective Oooooh from the crowd. Missed the free throw though. He looks to have gotten much stronger and runs the floor and shoots great. Also blocked a number of shots.

I'd say he is up to about 6'7".

He was very impressive as was the entire Elliott County team. Wow.

I honestly think Elliott might win the state title!! Those boys can play!

Thanks...... Thats great to hear, Timmy needs to be more agressive on Offense. Can't wait to watch them take on Madisonville North and one Mr. John Hood Saturday at Sheldon Clark.

Elliott is the real deal. Now that Knipp is turning his game up look out everybody here they come.

Is Bracken County any good? I'm pretty sure everyone was predicting Russell to be the worst in the region.

Bracken County is not very good. But they have the best mascot in the state. Russell actually had a 22 point lead on the Polar Bears.

Russell will struggle this year. They are very young (3 juniors, 1 freshman, 1 8th grader in the starting lineup for now) and don't have much size. They do have some kids that can shoot the ball well and I think they will go very deep into their bench. They should only get better with the addition of a few kids that played football just now comming out.

They are by no means a contender for a regional title but they will be better this season than they were last. I don't think they will be the worst team in the region. They may suprise a few people.

I didn't make it to the scrimmage last night as I had to go to the Ashland parade, but I was just wondering if there are any players other than Skaggs and Stapleton that might make significant contributions this year? I would think any success they have this year will be totally reliant upon shooting 3 pointers and limiting mistakes. It was troubling to see the comment about they are weak at ballhandling. Win or lose, they should be fun to watch as long as they try hard.

Isn't the Skaggs kid a 8th grader?

The ballhandling should be a worry. They have some decent ballhandlers but a physical pressing team will give them fits I think.

Justin Mitchell is probably the best athlete on the team. He had only practiced a couple of days but did do some nice things in the scrimmage. Ross May the same.

Grant Mckenzie, Tanner Wright, Nathan Taylor all made some plays. I think it will be a pretty deep team. I believe their stength may be in numbers and trying to wear the other team down.

One big thing I did notice is it looked like they were actually having fun playing and playing hard. It was a whole new look from a year ago. They put 80 points on the scoreboard and play a pretty fast pace. They won't be a really good team this year but I do believe they will improve as the year goes on and reestablish a building block for the future.

This was a very nice panorama to start out the year. It had some very talented teams!

I saw the 2nd half of the russell game and I don't see why people are saying they are
Improved. Bracken Countty should be their last win of the year. They are very young,
but their talent level is below last years 3 win team. Yes, they looked like they were having fun, but you usually do when you win.
Merle will do what he can, but Russell is about 3 years away from competing in the region again
Hope I'm wrong

Don't get me wrong. Russell is at least a couple of years away from being a good team. What I am saying is they are on the right track. Ferguson is where they lost the talent. Other than that they are probably a little better with most of those kids being a year older now.

I do think they will be better because of the fact that there will not be all of the turmoil around them that they had last season. They will take there lumps. I don't think there is any doubt about that. Success this season won't be determined by the win/loss record.
