Lewis County Questions & Answers
#1
How did some of you all think Lewis County did this year? Are they improving? Declining? Please don't bring up GOB business unless you are specific.....I don't want to see "If you get the GOB's out of the picture then they will be good". Personally I think you guys take the GOB thing too far. I don't feel it has as much influence as you think. I believe that community does have to buy in. How can you do that? Let’s rally around on how to get the program better then well it's the GOB's fault. What Say You!

Lewis County needs consistancy starting from JFL all the way to the varsity level. Its tough to get that though with a community that is as spread out as the Lewis County school district is. Football takes alot of people and alot of time spent to make a good program. If the entire community were to take pride in that and get the kids to want to play for that pride then it is possible. It will take work and commitment.

They need to start at the 5/6 grade leaver, show them the right way to tackle and stuff. They also need to run the same plays book as the high school run. That way by the time they get in high school they will know the plays. If someone get hurt, They will know that the kid will know the plays.

Well'em if there is a smartin in the bunch down there in Lewis Co.You'd get up to Greenup and hire one of there former assistants Mr. Johnson. The dude can teach school and was argubly the best back to ever come out of Portsmouth. And he does want to coach somewhere. And get that Prater brothers out and involved. Thers a three quality coaches a right there.Getem someone to get the job done or quit whinning about 1-9 seasons.

That would help a lot there cj

Bub you and I don't agree on very much and that's ok.Concerning the GOB no need to be specific everyone in Lewis and in other counties pretty well know who they are.And yes they involved with everything. Will getting rid of the GOB cure all the ill's? Probably not but it sure would be a great place to start.

I think the points brought up in previous post are very good and accurate. If there are good coaches out there then yes Lewis needs to quit being lazy get out there and get them.We have some who are in charge and some coaches are extremly lazy and are there either for the paycheck to say they help out to stroke their ego and most importanly CONTROL what goes on.

Josh is a great guy and the kids love him he needs to have quality coaches around him. Also he needs to be allowed to coach only one sport. Both sports are year round jobs if you want to start competeting for Regional and State championships. It is all but impossible to do both and compete you end up having what you have ,a really bad football program and a under acheving baseball program.

In the lower levels there needs to be some way to get the coaching problems fixed. I think one of the major problems is Fathers coaching. I have nothing against a dad coming out and helping I think it is great but there is a history of fathers coaching just to look out for their own or buddies kids and that's it. This is not only limited to football either.Like it our not it has been really bad the past 4 or 5 years. There have been good dad coaches that will work with all the kids and are willing to give other kids a shot but they are few and far in between.

It's hard to bring in Coaches when there isn't much to offer here. I wish they would come, maybe if the industrial park brings in more plants it will bring in more players, coaches and importantly financial support.

I agree about Josh, he is a good guy. But I have seen a lot of good guys that were not very good coaches. I think that Josh needs to broaden his scope on football and quit being entrenched in his ways.

It’s going to take more than factories to turn the football program around or any other sport that the famous lc has to offer.

I think Lewis County's main problem is their offensive scheme. You can't run the ball up the middle every play and win games. The game has changed in the past few years. You have to throw the ball to win. The offense that they had 2 years ago was close to being what they needed but not quite. You can't throw the ball to just 1 receiver and expect to win either. But they need to spread it out with five receivers and throw the ball all game. You also have to have a qb that can run a little bit to escape pressure as well as a good passer, which they had in downing. Two years ago they would have made the playoffs if they just had enough players. It's hard to play defense with 16 players on the team. But the offense scored enough points to win at least 5 or 6 games.

Half of the people around there don't even know what "consistency" even means and the other half are :redboxer: fighting and :argue: ing amongst each other so that there kid(s) get to shine in the limelight.( Good at the sport or not). it’s probably like that elsewhere, but not the WHOLE community.

On a more serious note the community, parents, coaches, school system etc. will have to “SACRIFICE”This will be one “KEY” in having a competitive program

That is the reason I said "think" because I knew there were people like you that would have ego issues when someone says that. But it's all good. Now back to the discussion. Tiger said they have a lack of leadership there, but I have to say they have a great Principal there that loves athletics. Now the assistant principal is another story. The Head coach is lacking in experience and knowledge. But if he works at it he could improve in both areas, but I don't think he is willing to do that.

No ego here Bub.I just don't like for people who have grammar problems to be called out.

In the few games i watch Lewis play. I can tell you they get better then the first of the season. The last time i saw them play was at Powell Co. They could have won that game. If they pass it more. And on the Def side of the ball. They have to get alot better. They tackle alittle better again Powell then the first game.

GOB? Someone fill me in. Lewis County isn't exactly around the block from me, but I've been there quite a bit recently and the thing that struck me is how spread out everything is. (As was pointed out in an earlier post.) That's going to be a tough job, but I hope they make a go of it.

Well it's careless mistakes which makes it hard to understand what he is saying. I love the input, but I like to be able to understand what he is saying.

Mr. bl you need to set down and rethink that quote "great Principal" Big Grin  :yikes:

:flame: Lets break this down "gett the people together" UNDERSTAND," gett" just typo “it all starts with the leadership" UNDERSTAND clearly “boys have no confidence in the ones in a charge", defiantly UNDERSTAND only @ lc “after doing some research i can see why” I have too. :graduate:
