Menifee had an easy time last night against the Pirates. Powell did not seem to be in sync at all. After the game I heard Hawkins and Crowe quit in the locker room. Spoke to a friend in Stanton and he confirmed they were leaving the team. Could be a long year for the Pirates if these two two don't return.

Not to knock any one but I thought Powell was suppose to be pretty solid this year.

They lost a numerous amount of players so it will be hard for them to bounce back.

Menifee did seem to have an easy time with Powell. Crowe played well, I didn't really notice Hawkins.
I also heard the same...that both Crowe and Hawkins turned in their uniforms after the game.

i also heard that crowe and hawkins quit.... without these 2 powell will definatly not have a winning season.... powell will have to rely on alot of young players to step on varsity along with 2 sophmore starters. I think the starting line up will now be...
PG- carlisle creech

SF-will arvin
PF-billy rice
C-jon conley
at least this way the pirates will return 3 starters next year, and the team will be much more experianced. I think this year is a rebuilding year for the pirates but in the future look for good things out of the underclassmen

If that is true about Hawkins & Crowe leaving, that takes a lot away from Powell county's team. Any idea of what the reason for this was?..:confused:

there the 4th place in the 56th this year with or with them like i have said they might win one dist game with them gone they can play there you younger kids and will be a better team at the end of the year. Crowe and Hawkins cant be coached and a new coach does not need that problem

there are a few powell players that have a habit of "quitting" after a bad game, but they usually come back over and over.. i don't understand it but its happened over and over through the years

HA!everyone on here kept talkin about how hawkins was powells savior and how great he was and now it turns out his terrible temper kept him from even playing! and losing there whole defense in crowe must suck 2 ! so powell county fans wat r u guys saying is gonna win it 4 u now? i cant wait 2 c wat powell fans say!

You know, I totally agree with courtdog. This may be the best thing to happen to this team. If this turns out to be true and both Hawkins and Crowe have quit then I would not allow them back. They both can be great athletes but they both have attitude problems and will bring the whole team down. They have always had this issue and if they can't grow up and take a loss like men then they don't need to be playing anyway. I think this will be the best senario for Coach Hall and he can use this season to start building on the future. They may take some beatings this year but with a bunch of young guys we can look later down the road. Someone also mentioned Brewer not being on the team and this is one of the exact reasons he left was because of crap like this going on. Smart move on his part.

Brewer was mostly involved in these conflicts. With Crowe and Hawkins quiting it hurts this team tremendously. They are a hand and foot better than anyone else on the team. They was the leaders. Powell played with Menifee until Crowe and Hawkins came out of the game and then they got blew out. If these two dont come back, its gonna be a long year for Powell. I was also really impressed with Menifee. They hustle and they dont look like they will be too bad this year.

yea i heard brian hall was a crappy coach and that had a big part in all of it...its not the last time you will see these two though...hawk will play at a small college and crowe already has football offers

Its because coach hall doesnt know what the HE11 hes doing and cant coach, but thats only what ive heard...

hall is a very smart guy when it comes to basketball but his problem is teaching it...he has no control over practices or anything...Crowe and Hawk will be a big loss for powell no matter whats said...crowe had 14 at half the other night and played great D and benched the second half, hawk is a great athlete and can do pretty much anything and hustles...but gluck to both

If a player can't make it in High School especially a scrimmage game what makes you think they can compete at the college level? On a college team, every player on the team is just as good or better than these boys that quit the team and everyone of them were probably superstars on their high school team! How are these boys going to deal with that?
If I were the coach, I would let them walk if they don't want to be part of the team and play by the COACHES rules. If these kids were true leaders they would take "constructive criticizm" and learn to play the way the COACH wants them to. Sometimes good players make a team worse, I would work with the kids that want to play as a team and do what the coach thinks is best for the TEAM!
Apparently they don't want to play by the rules so, good luck to them. I hope they are not Jr's or Sr's because they will have to sit a year or be done with basketball.

Well did you go to the summer games those two were the only ones doing the scoring and couldnt take a break the game would get out of hand, the same with the Meniffee game.

So goodguy did you happen to watch these two in the summer games? Well if you missed out those two were the only two players that keep the games close and scored most of Powells points, speaking of stars hawk and crowe are the stars of powell county and coach hall doesnt know what he's doing. He Knows ball But cant teach it.

Wow goodguy then you dnt know how good those two are, Crowe had 14 in the first half and the coach wouldnt put him in the second half.

Agreed. Crowe and Hawkins were a big part of this team. And without them, they will have a tough time winning. Hawkins and Crowe both love the game of basketball. They would never quit without a good reason.
