Ask Me About Lacrosse
#1
It has been brought to my attention that a lot of people know nothing about the sport, some have never even heard of it. There are no teams in Eastern Kentucky and I can't name anyone else who even plays for fun.

So, if anyone is interested, just post some questions.

It is kind of like hockey. It feels like a mixture of hockey, football, and soccer actually but it looks like none of the above and a lot of people probably wouldn't understand why. The hockey and football parts come into play with the hits and soccer because in outdoor lacrosse you are on a field and the goal is to get the ball into the net.

You can hit people extremely hard. There are football like hits or tackles as well and you also have to think...you do have a stick in your hand they do get used sometimes. It's perfectly legal to hit an opponent's stick called "stick checking" to obtain possession of the ball.

For two reason I do not wear protector cups.

1. I am a female
2. I don't play full contact because I'm not playing as a competition and do not wish to hurt my friends

However, some that male lacrosse players do opt to wear them during games. I don't know if they are required though.

There is a lot of protective gear available for lacrosse players. Most wear pads pretty much equivalent to football players as well as protective eye gear.

From my understanding, the rules of Lacrosse are very similar to those of hockey. It's kind of like hockey for people who can't skate.

Yea, you're right CE. You have your defenders, midfielders, and attackers and also a goalie. The face off is similar because the ball is placed between a member of each team and you have to scrap for it to get it to your team in order to start setting up plays. The positions pretty much all play out the same way. Indoor lacrosse is actually played on a covered ice rink. There are other similarities I'm sure but I'm not really up on hockey rules and game play.

Well, all I know is I have a pair of sweet under armour lacrosse shorts, and have never played..haha
It seems like it would kill someone if they got hit by that ball when they sling it.

I have my eye on a sweet pair of LAX shorts by UA. They do make really nice ones.

Aaand I mean if you call 108mph fast....haha. Yes, it could do some serious damage and possibly, given the right placement of the hit, literally kill someone.
