no matter who you play, no matter how good you are, to end the regular season over .500 you have done something, and for the players, coaches, faculty and fans, you have done something that stanton has never seen before, a powell county football regular season ending 6-4. that is what this thread is about the first winning season in powell county high school football.

Are you upset that your team isn't fairing so well? You speak as an individual who is having a bad year. I heard Powell had a goal line stand from 4th and goal. I caught the end of the game on the radio when Crowe got the interception. Sounds like you guys played as a TEAM and playing a higher district competition level gave you the edge to win in a close game over an 8-1 Berea team that beat you last year. CONGRATS and remember it's not about individuals it's about TEAM!

That was a game that will not be forgotten for a long time. Great pick Crowe! Hardy and Elkins both broke up sure TD passes in the endzone. Rice made some clutch 3rd down passes for 1st downs on the run. Barron had a bunch of catches on the nite(I think he caught 9 or 10 balls). If so, that breaks J.Wrights 8 catch school record from last yr. v/s Breathitt. The line & FBs got it together and was pushing Berea all over the field in the 2nd half. Jesse ran very hard. The D took over in the 2nd half. I'm telling you what! If we ever play all 4 Qtrs., we would be dangerous...LOL Congrayz boys! I'm extremely proud of you.

I would also like to say: #5 for Berea could start for any team in 3A or lower. Probably some 4 & 5 A schools. He was very shifty and had good speed. A very respectable player. #53...we had a time with him! He was very cocky and mouthy, but a very good FB player. They are not a bad team. Good job Berea. Keep your heads up.

Great Job Pirates You Have Done What No Other Team In Our Schools History Has And Thats Something To Be Very Proud Of!!!!!! Good Luck In The Playoffs.

Not puttin the kid down but it seemed all he did was run towards Berea's side line then cut up the ob line. The kid had alot of speed but all the defense had to do was get penetration toward Berea's side line an he got stopped for no gain or a loss

Berea's only loss is to Estil, whom we all know is a good football team. They have some great athletes. They have some good coaches also. Coach McWhorter is a good guy and coach. He took on a program no one else wanted and has done a good job. Powell County fans are at many times very unfoundedly cocky and arrogant, but congrats to the players. They have improved by leaps and bounds and anytime you have a first anything in school history that is something to be respected and remembered.

Either way congrats on the first winning season. Berea honestly really isn't very good, I've seen them some this year, they've definatley improved a lot over the past 2 years. They have some speed but the team as a whole leaves a lot to be desired, however, Powell County wasn't that good either, but they have improved a great deal this year, so congrats.

Once we did, we stopped them. I don't know why everyone on here thinks Berea isn't that good. They ain't gonna win a championship but played very hard and I respect them for it. Good job Pirates!

Breathitt has played some teams in the past that they should have killed but have squeaked out a win. It happens! You can't beat everyone by 30. Our boys showed some true grit when they needed to most. I am very proud of them. They could have layed down in the 2nd half when they were down by 13 but they didn't! Good job guys!

powell county fans are not arrogant and unfoundly cocky. the fans stay on their own side of the field and as the people walk out the gate they tell the opposing team good job and be careful on your way home. there are no fights, you do not have to get the law when we visit an away school and the principal attends the games to ensure the students do not misbehave because he takes care of any problems immediately. so i do not know what the bases for this statement are.
good job pirates and good luck in the play offs.

This game didn't start how the coachs or players wanted it to. But the boys knew they wanted to come out the second half and play some football i'am so proud that they never gave up and just wanted to play some football. They knew what there jobs where and came out and did it to give Powell there first ever winning season in Powell County history. Congrads Pirates and kick some butt in the playoffs........

This is a Powell County team that deserved to have the first winning season in school history. These boys are very dedicated to the sport and they never give up. They earned it so lets give them some credit for it. On the other discussion Berea really impressed me with their running game. Two players had tremendous speed and the line opened holes for them. They really arent too bad of a football team from what i seen.

good job on powell county for winning friday night and improving thier record to 6-4. the first winning season for the powell county football team. both teams played a hard fought game and played with their heart and left everything out there on the field. powell pirates played a sloppy first half and came out and played the second half flawlessly. special when they stopped berea on the goal line and driving the ball 95 yards to seal the deal. good coachin by the defensive coach coach fugate on that there. berea played a great game as well those boys should get credit. they had made some big time plays that night and their offense is good. their runningbacks ran hard and never gave up. #5 for berea was a team player did everything for his team and even came out and checked on one of his teammates when they got hurt. good job to both teams and powell congrats but put it behind you and get ready for the playoffs. proud of you all. keep at it berea u guys played a good game too u should not be ashamed.
