Josh Whitaker will turn heads this year. He is the best player in the 14th region in the last 10 years. He truly is TOP DAWG.

Ahem, Ben Bowling, Ahem...

You cant count out Charlie Banks from LCC either. This kid can play.

LOL agree, Ben Bowling.... I dont think he is even the best player at Hazard in the last 10 years.

Justin Hicks was a dandy. Good ball player and good person.

..... Are you stupid? The kid went to Oak hill on invitation but left because he was the first person off the bench but we wanted to start so he went to a prep school in Florida.. He was un-real!!

Ben Bowling could play Josh Whitaker one on one right now and kill him. GUARANTEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whitaker might score once or twice.

One on One, Whitaker probably wouldn't be in the top 10 in the 14th. Probably not top 5 on Hazard's team this year. But as point guard, he is not 'one on one'. He did do a great job leading a good team last year. But Hazard was a good team with a lot of talent. Whitaker on another team probably wouldn't even be mentioned.
Not being mean, but I have always saw him as a little better than average point guard on an above average 14th region team.
Bowling was a standout player. Period. Whitaker in no way compares to Bowing.

Besides Josh Whitaker, I believe Tate Cox is a pretty good all-around guard from what I have seen! JMO

I heard that he got kick off of the team at Oak Hill for drugs. Just like he did in college. But around here, he is like everone else. That is no one. If it wasn't for the drugs he might went pro. But in Hazard there is alot of people that could have made it, but they pick drugs. People like that is not on any list.

Whitaker just dribbles the air out of the ball until he can get enough illegal screens to get a shot off or try and get to the basket for a shot. The guys on his team makes him look a heck of a lot better than he is. I'm sure the guys on his team love hearing, josh this and josh that! I know everyone on here is sick of it, I can only imagine what his team mates think of it! They deserve a lot of the credit for his accomplishments and i don't hear many people giving them the credit they deserve! He is a good ball handler and makes his team better. But he is no where near the point guard that everyone thinks he is.

Why dont you call it then Mr. Ref? Whitaker is the most tanleted player in the 14th followed by Stamper.

Josh W. and Tate cox two 14th region players that play very good basketball, also have to throw Banks from LCC the kid can play some basketball.
I'm tired of hearing about money, money, money, money, money. I just want to play the game, drink Pepsi, wear Reebok -Shaquille O'Neal

Very true. Whitaker is good, but Tate Cox is just as good...if not better. In no way is Whitaker better I think.

You know it is funny how all of the best players are up there in the mountains. First of all Tate probably is the best shooter in the region from what I remember, but if he is no. 1 then Arron Charles is 1a, and he is 6 foot 4. Also if you are talking about a one game max performance of what every player is capable of doing you have to consider Tristan Cacklin. The point I want to make is I hope that Lee and Estill represent the 56th in the regional tournament this year because both Cacklin and Charles have alot of help around them, and I see one if not both teams making ALOT of noise! Then maybee we can come back to this subject, and discuss this topic, oh yeah by the way the region is at Powell this year also, so we will see.

I agree here. I think Charles is a very, very good basketball player, as is Cacklin. I don't see some of the other players mentioned enough to compare, but I think those two impact a game with any of them.

I think it will be very interesting for people to see Tate Cox play in a system that is setup for him to thrive. I think that Cox and Stamper could be one of the best guard combos in the state both have great ball handling skills and really know the game should be very hard to press.

IMO Tate Cox, Tristan Cacklin and Aaron Charles are better players than Josh Whitaker

Just give me all 4 and i will make a run for a state champinship. There all great players hard to say who is the best.

It will be interesting to see Cox and Stamper go three times vs Banks and Blair from LCC.
That will determine who is the best.

I think Knott Co. could end up being a lot like the Whitesburg team that won the region a few years ago with BROCK and HOWARD as their guards those 2 could not be pressed and made every big shot their team needed. Truely 2 of the better guards in the mts. in the past 10 years or so. By the way were are those boys are they coaching or anything Howard went to G-Town didn't he.
