Lunsford or McConnell?
#1
Who will you vote for?

Personally, I have no idea and have yet to be swayed by either side. Right now I guess you could say I'm leaning towards McConnell, but only because Lunsford seems the sleazier of the two.

I agree. I'm saying McConnell just because i don't trust Lunsford.
#3
I hate Lunsford but I hate McConnell more!

Ditch Mitch!

Could someone please tell me why Lunsford over McConnell? Here is your chance to sway me either way.

McConnell has been there for years, and has earned a sense of seniority when it comes to getting things done for Kentuckians. Lunsford would have to start at the bottom and find all the loopholes and strategies to get his way for Kentucky. I actually like Lunsford some, and have some connections to him, but I believe McConnell would be the better choice for our state.

I work for the Lunsford campaign in Pikeville. McConnell has done nothing to help East Kentucky in the last 24 years. It's time for a change!!!

Over 4,000 brave Americans have lost their lives and another 29,000 have been injured during the course of the War in Iraq. Despite the bloSenator McConnell thinks reports coming out of Iraq are “positive.” Just yesterday, McConnell said on the floor of the Senate “we've been getting a steady flow of positive reports on the security situation in Iraq.” McConnell claimed that the violence has subsided, however recent data released by the Army showed that attacks on US soldiers doubled during the month of March, even in the heavily-fortified “green zone.” [New York Times, 4/8/08; McConnell Floor Statement 4/8/08; www.icasualties.org]

On July 26, McConnell voted against legislation that would provide nearly $35 million to low-income Kentuckians to help with high home energy costs. The emergency funding bill comes as electricity costs are expected to rise by 5% this year, natural gas by 16%, and heating oil by nearly 50%. [S 3186, Vote 187, 7/26/08]

Mitch McConnell voted against a federal budget that invests in clean, renewable energy, gives middle class families needed tax relief, provides vital funds for our nation’s veterans and invests in new jobs – all while calling for a balanced budget. [S. Con. Res. 70, Vote 142, 6/4/08]

In 1994, McConnell said, "I am a proud guardian of gridlock."
In 1998, McConnell said, "I have been a proud guardian of gridlock."

How so? What has McConnell done for Kentucky since 1984?

If he has done nothing, then why has he consistently been voted in for 24 years. I think he would not have lasted one term had he done nothing. It is obvious your view is very biased since you work for Lunsford.

Bruce Lunsford's health clinics provide poor care to veterans.

Bruce Lunsford profits from the poor treatment of America's veterans.

After filing to run for Senate, Bruce Lunsford listed his legal residence as Chicago.

Bruce Lunsford hasn't done anything for Kentucky.

In 1980 as Governor John Y. Brown's chief legislative liaison , Bruce Lunsford successfully lobbied to change the way Kentucky taxes gasoline, changing it from a flat amount to indexing the tax to the wholesale cost of gasoline. This means that as the cost of gas increases the tax paid by Kentuckians automatically increases as well.
Multimillionaire Bruce Lunsford ran a business that went bankrupt, costing many investors their savings, while at the same time protecting his own multimillion dollar investments.
For all this information and more check out this site:
http://www.brucelunsfordfacts.com/bruce-...rd-record/

It is better to know the good and bad about both candidates instead of a biased view. It really doesn’t matter to me who wins this race nor the presidential race. I know my vote and hope others can choose the best they feel.

From personal experience, mitch has helped people in Eastern Kentucky...just a month ago he personally helped some families in need of social security get it. So yeah my vote is for mitch

Mitch McConnell is the biggest ***** to ever walk the Senate floor.
#12
If the voters in Kentucky vote McConnell out that will be the biggest mistake that they have ever made. You don't vote out a high ranking senator, much less the Senate minority leader to replace him with a junior senator. McConnell has gotten some very good programs for the bluegrass and although many people blame all republicans for the mess we are in it really isn't there fault. Many of the economic crisises we are in could have been overted with Democratic aid in the early 2000's. McConnell is the highest ranking senator since Henry Clay. It would be insane to vote him out. It took Kentucky 200 years to get a person back at that spot and to vote him out would be ridiculous.

-I disagree on his stance on the GI Bill. BTW, it provides us with money for college after we get out of the service, we can't use it while were in. Also, say if a serviceman makes a career out of the military and doesn't go to college, they can save the GI Bill money for there kids. When I enlist I got $65,700 from it.

-I agree on staying in Iraq until the job is done.

But, did'nt George Bush stand on an aircraft carrier two years ago and declare victory???...If we won, why are we still there? One Word...OIL, the US wants to control the worlds oil reserves and is in bed with the Saudis to do so.

We need to keep our noses out of the worlds problems and worry about our own for a change!

We have bridges and infrastructure falling apart all over this country, but they want to build bridges in Iraq?

We have schools in this country that are in delapitated conditions, but they want build new schools in Iraq?

Come on America, Wake up !!!

I guess Lunsford gets a pass for taking millions of dollars and leaving workers and stock owners left out to dry? Yet we want to take the highest ranking Republican senator out of office to vote on party lines lol. Do you even have your own best interests in mind? A senator has very little effect on your personal life, so don't blame McConnell for your woes. He does however have the ability to bring money into the state and voice Kentucky's concerns, which is his job. I don't like him that mcuh either, but for the state we are better off to have him there, then let some crook take his place and be able to do nothing but be a lackey for the Dem party.

What's Mitch McConnell done for Eastern Ky Beetle?

Sure he's delivered alot of PORK to Western Ky but he doesn't even know how to get to Eastern Ky.

He has been running from Lunsford since before this years Fancy Farm!

He's not for Kentucky.

He's been President Bush's Lap Dog for the last 8 years.

He's stands in the way of getting a Democratic Majority in the Senate which will get things done that Kentucky and America desperately need.

I hate Lunsord too(for endorsing Fletcher in 2006)but this time he is the Lesser of the 2 Evils.

Ditch Mitch! Vote Lunsford!TongueirateSho

Actually, I don't want a 60/40 Democratic majority in Congress, especially since it appears that Obama will be our next President. That would give Democrats the freedom to do pretty much anything they want the next two years. And that is not a good situation, no matter which party is the one enjoying the control.

We need for both parties to have to work together, not for one party to have unchecked power.

I agree, under normal circumstances I could probably vote against Mitch if there was a decent candidate against him. I also do not want the Dems to reach 60, and even if Mitch is voted out I don't think they will reach that number. So we need to plan on the dems relying on the repubs in the Senate to get things passed, so having the highest ranking Republican in there to get some things for KY. While I'm completely against most pork spending. If its gonna be spent we might as well get it for this state.

Do you even understand the economics behind raising the minimum wage? If wages go up that is an input, then costs must go up to offset that input. Wages aren't the problem. The problem is that minimum wage jobs were designed for entry level work for people to do as a starter for their life. Not to have a job that pays that much their entire life. What needs to be changed is the culture in many communities that really heavily on these types of jobs. These areas need improvement in education and programs that promote more career oriented goals in people's lives.

That's mainly because of the old school old farts we have running local governments. They were going to put the new Kentucky Speedway in Rush, but they wouldn't let them sell alcohol so they went elsewhere. What morons.

Also, Toyota was going to build a new plant, 2500 new jobs in Boyd and Greenup Co. They wouldn't give them the same tax breaks they have in Georgetown, so they moved the plant to WV. Its a joke around here. If you want to change things, we need better politicians on the local level.
