The R in the center of the field was painted Pink in honor of breast cancer awareness and Coach McGlone's wife.

Pictures really don't do the field justice. It was the atmosphere and the reason for it to be painted Pink. I know it touch many peoples heart with what it meant. Breast cancer and cancer in general is a very sobering ordeal. My Mother has beaten this for going on ten years now. I belive the field wasn't painted only for women, but all who have been diagnosed. This year the devils lost a fan who LOVED every moment they played. I have a empty feeling every time I go to the game. But I know he will never miss a game. As long as I, or many of his other friends, talk about him at each game. I grew up with Brian Scarbrough, he was a wonderful friend and will be sadly missed.

Nice post grubby. Breast cancer, and many forms of cancer, has taken way too many friends and family over the years. Football is just a game, but many of these people loved it and it was a big part of their lives. God Bless all who have perished and may the ones who have fought and survived be blessed in an extra special way.

The above link will take you to the Russell High School football website. You can view picture galleries from the game by clicking on the picture on the main page.
Friday was a very touching night that alot of people put hard work into to raise money for the fight against cancer. There is a group of 16 women that are participating in the Avon walk agains breast cancer. They will be going to Charlotte for the walk. They have done a tremendous job raising money to find a cure. Friday night was part of that as well as a way to pay tribute to some of our family and friends that have fought against this terrible disease.
There are also some more pictures of the East Carter game at

That is a great post. One of the best I've seen on this site.
