I agree 100%, but it is also a coaches job to avoid reckless use of his players. If I were a playoff contender such as JC and Paintsville will be, I wouldn't ever risk my starters beyond the 1st half if I were up big. That is just plain stupid IMO. But if a team is just out to play and has no post season opps, then there is nothing wrong with running up a score if you can. It is just a judgment call by the coach that is winning.
One example is the P-burg vs. Morgan Co. game; or the Paintsville vs. Betsy Layne game. P-burg and Paintsville could have won by 80 if they had wanted. But why risk injury to a key player just to embarass a team. It doesn't impress anyone in the know to beat a team by 70 or 80 points when they have no chance anyway.

When the winning team puts in the JV in , lets say the 3rd quarter, then the losing team should also put in the JV. Then what do you do if the winning teams JV keeps scoring? And do you really think it is right to leave starters in against another teams JV?

should the winning team purposely not score just to make the losing team feel a little better about themselves? i know of a game that the coach told our boys not to score anymore... our coach kept switching out the varsity with a full jv line up.. and even the jv stopped them from scoring... so, i don't think the starters should play if they are winning by alot.. just to keep from injuring a key player.. but i don't think you should purposely not score.. just to.. i don't know.. feel sorry for the other team..

some teams have weak jv teams, and to put them in too early could cost them some points which could allow the opposing team to get back in the game. some coaches just will not take the chance. most will just make a change with key players, and then do a wholesale change in the fourth.

Some teams wont do it because the other team won't sub down. The JV players may get hurt and I understand that.

I agree with you 100000%. I mean, if a team is up big, DO NOT throw the football, DO NOT leave the starters in the game, and DO NOT purposely attempt to embarass the opposing team. But if your freshman are in the game running the ball straight up the gut and a hole opens up, what is he supposed to do? Fall down??

Does anyone have an opinion on the losing team leaving in their starters against the winning teams JV? I think it is wrong.

When the JV team is playing and the Varsity team is sitting on the bench not paying any attention to what the JV is doing. They spent the whole game cheering on the varsity at least they could cheer the JV in gtatitude!!!
