I think it likely Lawrence will end up at 4-6 with a win over Russell or LCC, along with sweeping the district.

5-5 is possible, but that means winning 2 of the Russell, LCC, and Breathitt Co. games. That's a pretty tall order.

Those are very good passing numbers. Any team would love to have more than 10 yds/attempt without throwing an INT. Gearheart had a heckuva night !!!

Prestonsburg will need the passing game down the road, if it's going to make playoff noise. Nice to see it working well.

Thank you for the numbers, BA !!!

Yeah, if Prestonsburg would throw the ball around 20 times per game then we would have the most unstoppable offense in 2A.

Be careful there.

One of the primary reasons P-burg's passing stats are so good is because opposing defenses can't drop more players into coverage because the Blackcats have a good run game.

When Gearheart is only covered one-on-one, there's always big play potential. The solid run game forces defenses to play it that way as the safety must check off the RB's first.

With that said, it would be interesting (and highly entertaining) to see the Blackcats spread it out and go with the pass as the primary weapon in a game or two. Craynon would be dangerous in the open field on short dump passes, and Setser would be hard to stop on draws/traps. As a bonus, it could really scramble how teams have P-burg scouted.

I do get a little preachy every now and then. Sorry about that... Smile

And NO, I don't have the sheepskin to coach. Besides, I enjoy watching so much I'd hate to ruin it by turning it into a JOB.

Chuke is the most intense and at the same time uninhibited (uncontrolled ?) football coach I've ever seen. He's one of those people that you either really like or dislike as there's no middle ground.

His players will either be driven to play as hard as possible (even to the point of burnout) or will quit the game (or a parent will pull the player). As his teams got better through the season in running the belly-option, they also shrank in numbers.

No, I don't think "building" a program suits Coach Williams' demeanor. He's better suited to taking good athletes in a decent program and revving it up...until players/parents and/or himself hit a wall.

Truly a character and fun to talk football with, though. Wink

Isn't This Site A Place To Come And Give Your Opinion. Whether Its Good Or Whether Its Bad On A Subject. And Mine On This Game Was That Lc's Coaching Staff Stinks. Didn't Say Anything About The Kids Lc Kids Always Have Had Talent And Heart. Just Saying I Don't Like The Way They Were Led In Fri. Nights Game They Deserve Better. Basically The Coaching Staff Lost The Game The Play Calling Just Stunk. And If Your Given An Opportunity You Got To Take Full Advantage Of It And We Had Many And You Got To Find A Way No Matter What. One Of The Ppl That Replied Back To Me Is Really The Very One I Am Talking About When I Say To Many Wanna Be Coaches On The Sideline. And There Is To Many On The Sidelines And What Do They Do Is Nothing But Get In The Way And Take Up Space. Not Going To Mention Any Names Bp Its Sad Ppl On Sidelines Get More Fired Up At My Criticizing Than They Can On Friday Nights And Getting Our Kids Fired Up. Seems Like These Ppl Like Bp Like Losing So They Can Get On Here And Argue With Ppl That Criticize Like Me If It Stinks I Call It The Way I See It And This Coaching Staff Stinks So Far. Man Really Really Missing Coach Williams And As Far As Him Choking Hmmmmmm Lets See I've Said It Once A Chuke Coached Team Would Have Scored More In One Half Than This Bunch Has So Far. Miss You Coach Williams

This score really scares me. Yeah pat on the back for LC. Obviously a team that is much improved. Playing both Prestonsburg and Belfry close. But it is also the same team that got ran over by SC. That either says LC is inconsitant or Pburg and Belfry are going to have some trouble come playoffs.

Prestonsburg's problem in this game was playing to conservative. If they would have passed the ball more then Prestonsburg would have won this one by more.

It doesn't say anything, LC obviously has a good team to play two of the top programs in eastern Kentucky that close. It sounds like their coach is doing a very good job to me, and seems to have great game plans week in and week out.
