I disagreed with Rudi being cut, but then again, I'm not seeing him in practice or anything.
Cutting Willie and Deltha? BLOWN AWAY. Willie has been struggling, but he's an icon, and I don't think he's been too good, plus we're wasting a salary on Stacy Andrews, and I have no explanation for cutting Deltha because we have no replacement.
Here is my explanation (or hope, really): that we cut them to free up cap space to sign a DT or 2 and a center (maybe even a guard),
Thoughts?

We kept 12 DB's! 12!!! I HATE MIKE BROWN!!! We should have resigned Steinbach last year and let go Andrews this year. Mike Brown makes no since, but lets face it the Bengals organization isn't always the best at making since.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger Fritz. Nobody else has seen Rudi practice much either, including Marvin. Rudi can resume his yearly quest to get a 20 yard run and being the last to practice somewhere else.
The malignent nepotism to overpriced injury riddled vets that don't practice and don't produce has finally ended and i'm ecstatic. It's a new day in bengaldom where those that really produce and have a future get a chance.
I hate to see Willie go. But he was making a huge amount of money that (you will have to agree) he wasn't living up to. Its hard to pay a back up tackle that kind of money.

They actually have Dan Coats as the 2nd string FB, not the 3rd string TE.

I am not suprised that they cut Rudi since they was trying to trade him earlier.

Yeah not really shocked by the Rudi release. But when my cousin told me they also released Willie Anderson and Deltha O'neal I was very surprised to say the least. Willie has been with the Bengals for a good long time and Deltha is one of the best defensive players in the game. Would like to know the explanation as to why they both were released.

I see Perry as number 1........
RUNNING BACKS (5): Chris Perry, Kenny Watson, DeDe Dorsey, FB Jeremi Johnson, FB Daniel Coats:
For whatever reason, Lewis has never been a big fan of Rudi Johnson and almost cut him the first season he was here in 2003. When he didn't practice for virtually a month this preseason, that was the final straw. But for four seasons he was as reliable and as durable as any back the Bengals have ever had.
They do hope Perry and Dorsey provide some danger on the perimeter with their speed. Dorsey's 45-yard run last year was the longest run from scrimmage in three years.
One thought: Perry and Dorsey have fewer than 100 NFL carries between them.
How many teams would hang with Jeremi Johnson after another bout of weight problems? It shows how much they think of his value in the running game. Coats swings as a No. 2 fullback and No. 3 tight end.

My opinion on the cuts...
- Deltha O'Neal? Good riddance. He has a terrible attitude and the last two years he got burned on a regular basis. Too much grief from a guy that isn't starting.
- Rudi? Still kinda surprised about this. I know he has been injured, and I'm all for starting Chris Perry, but do they honestly believe that DeDe Dorsey is better? I know Dorsey played fairly well in limited carries last year, but come on. Unless they plan on using Rudi's salary money to sign someone else, this was not a good move.
- Finally, Willie Anderson. Absolute shocker. This is a guy who has been with the team through a lot of bad years, and has been a stabilizing influence on a locker room sorely lacking in this capacity. Plus, he took Stacy Andrews under his wing and taught him how to play tackle. I know he was due to make a lot of money to be a backup, but do we really think the Bengals O-line will make it through the year withour sustaining any injuries? Big Willie would have been a great option to plug in if someone got hurt.
- Nobody else has mentioned it, but they also released Ahmad Brooks. A third-tound pick from a couple years ago, he was freakishly talented but just needed more polish. I still think the team gave up too quickly on him. Again, are they really saying that Darryl Blackstock is better? Come on. The Bengals will look pretty stupid if the light goes on after Brooks signs with another team.

Im pretty sure Brooks is signing with the 49ers. But whats surprising about Brooks leaving is he was Mike Browns pick. So it makes you wonder what happened there. Brooks of course will be reunited with Justin Smith in 'frisco. I saw one preseason game where the niners had Smith playing linebacker. Apparently Smith was disappearing during the games and not getting much done at DE in practice. I was reading an online newspaper from San Fran and the sports editor was talking about how the niners OVERPAYED for Smith.
BTW More.....heres the updated roster after the personel moves Sunday
Wide receivers (6): Chad Johnson*, T.J. Houshmandzadeh*, Jerome Simpson, Antonio Chatman, Glenn Holt, Andre Caldwell
Tight ends (2): Reggie Kelly*, Ben Utecht
Quarterbacks (3): Carson Palmer*, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Jordan Palmer
Running backs (5): TB Chris Perry*, FB Jeremi Johnson*, TB Kenny Watson, TB, DeDe Dorsey, FB Daniel Coats
Offensive linemen (9): Levi Jones*, Andrew Whitworth*, Eric Ghiaciuc*, Bobbie Williams*, Stacy Andrews*, Scott Kooistra, Kyle Cook, Anthony Collins, Frank Davis
Defensive linemen (9): Robert Geathers*, Domata Peko*, John Thornton*, Antwan Odom*, Jonathan Fanene, Frostee Rucker, Orien Harris, Jason Shirley, Pat Sims
Linebackers (6): Rashad Jeanty*, Dhani Jones*, Keith Rivers*, Darryl Blackstock, Brandon Johnson, Corey Mays
Cornerbacks (4): Leon Hall*, Johnathan Joseph*, David Jones, Simeon Castille
Safeties (6): Dexter Jackson*, Marvin White*, Chinedum Ndukwe, Kyries Hebert, Herana-Daze Jones, Corey Lynch
Kicker (1): Shayne Graham
Punter (1): Kyle Larson
Long snapper (1): Brad St. Louis
Of course this will change also if Chris Henry gets to comeback at the end of the month.

I agree with whoever said it, that the 49ers overpaid for Justin Smith. He never did justify the big contract he got as a high draft pick, and he certainly didn't deserve the money San Fran threw at him. I think that Antwan Odom, when healthy, will be a BIG upgrade over Smith.
As for Brooks, though, I still think releasing him was a mistake. He wasn't making a ton of money, so the only benefit to cutting him is leaving a roster spot for Darryl Blackstock. Let me repeat that, Darryl Blackstock. Not exactly Brian Urlacher there. While Blackstock may achieve the same production that Brooks would have this year, Ahmad had vast potential that just needed to be tapped into. Unfortunately, if that happens, another team will be reaping the benefits.

I know what you are saying. Brooks has all the tools. It's just a matter of him putting everything together.
