Someone let me know how it went this morning.

I was there and it seemed that Russell dominated both offense and defense to start things off. SPEED SPEED SPEED. Russell got off the ball extremly quick and look 10 times better than the Maroon and White game. David Bailey has really become an athlete and an asset. Drew Abrams broke a TD run for at least 60 yards on a reverse.
When the Scrimmage got down to the end and they started using down markers Spring Valley stepped it up finally. But Fumbles are really going to hurt Spring Valley. I believe they fumbled at least 12-15 times. Russell wasn't as big as Spring Valley but what they lacked in size they made up in quickness.

Key notes IMO, Drew Abrams like to side step more than take hit straight up and go for the extra yard. David Bailey is quick to the corner but missed a few blocks for him and didn't cut in time.( That comes with time) AJ Cordle struggled when he had to scramble and throw but the quarter back sneak worked well. Mitchell has meat hooks for hands in recieving the ball. Mickey Dillion, WOW, what a tool on both defense and offense. Will Rice did well in getting the five to ten up the middle. The reverse will be the key this year. I was impressed with everyone and the way they attacked the ball on Defense. Derrick Fossen Did great on the whip (Outside linebacker) Really made the players on offense hurry. I have VERY HIGH hopes for Russell this year.

It's good to hear the scrimmage went well this morning. Incidentally, I saw Drew Abrams out running the streets of Flatwoods this evening. I have seen him running from time to time this summer, but it surprised me to see a high school player out running on a Saturday night after they had already had a scrimmage that day. You have to pull for a player with that kind of dedication. I hope he has a big year.

I was very impressed with the Devils at this point. Very quick and flew to the ball on D! I could really tell the difference from last year to this year, because of the returning experience. Will Rice really did well at fullback! David Bailey looked like he did at the end of last season or better! AJ looked good except for a couple of passes that he should have kept and run, Hope you read this AJ! Drew looked better at the end of the scrimmage, more like he did last year! Dillion is an animal, hope he has the wind to stay on the field alot against the better teams. All players played with passion especially Spencer! Over all looks like a fun year! Good Luck Reddevils!!

It is always hard to see how a team is when they scrimmage each other. I am glad that they looked good yesterday, now I just wonder how they will look against C/M. I am going to try and make that scrimmage on TUES. Is anybody going to go to that scrimmage?

I wasn't paying close attention, I didn't see Russell out of their 5-2base package. I could be wrong, I thought Fosson and Jones were playing the DE positions WIth Rice and Smith at LB's.

During practice Coach Morris likes to refer to them as Linebackers and Coach Jones says ends. So either way, you both are right I guess.
