How does everyone think russell looked?

Russell looks like another State Champion contender!

Looked pretty good.

Jessie White looked pretty impressive after sitting out last season. The kid could be a player. He along with Steven Stapleton looked really good.

Travis Jones looked really good at times. In the backfield and on the line and on defense. You could put him almost anywhere on the field.

Will Rice had some really nice runs as well as looking good at linebacker.

Some young players that could have an impact and made a good impression tonight were Joel Korzep, Patrick Cooper and Travis Edwards.

Mike Dillon, David Bailey and Drew Abrams made some plays as well. The one armed grab by Dillon was awsome.

I also thought all of the QBs threw the ball well. The developement of the offensive line will determine how far this team goes.

Did Bates do anything in the scrimmage or is he still out from his injury. I have not gotten any updates on how he is doing with his rehab.

He had to have another surgery completed and now he will prolly be out the rest of the year. He was there in a wheelchair last night. Sad ituation for him but a grim reminder that decisions off the field make or break your time on the field. Great kid but prolly no football this year. I hate that Russell will not have him on the field but it is like Coach McGlone said to him in his hospital room. " I am just glad to be talking to you right now".


Jessie White looked impressive, Korzeps hit on Bailey in the end zone was a Cracka-lacka. Wil Rice appears to take over the full back spot.....Great run !!!!

Alot of bright spots last night. MIkey Dillon is a beast abd the one handed grab in the middle of 6 players was awesome.

I could kick Nick Blevins butt for not being there last night......

Over All- great job from the Devils,,, Oh and did anyone see the Greenup Football boys in the end zone sitting quietly watching??????

I thought they looked decent. Its a maroon/white game so its tough to tell. The main thing I saw is they didn't look rusty. Usually at this point in the year everything looks sloppy.

Was Blevins sick? I know Dave has been with fever, head cold, sickness of the stomach, along with breaking out into sweats. Some bug going around. Hopefully there is a good reason he wasn't there, but hopefully nothing serious.

Did see alot of things that we could improve on. Line got off the ball well but some blocks were defintly missed. The QB s threw well, but the aim and the recievers idea of where to go wasn't there. Although that doesn't mean we can't. I was really impressed with the big man and the middle screen. Nice one handed catch! Mike Dillon Is huge this year. I see him with a screen for an easy five or ten when need it in a clutch play. Although Drew really didn't "break one" for a big gain, it wasn't meant for him to, because of the structure of the teams. I can see extra tickets being bought this year!!!!

If Dillon gets enough passes thrown to him he will be our most effective weapon.

He is athletic enough and big enough to play D1 ball at TE but unless we throw it to him no one will ever know.

The middle screen must be respected for the Russell Offense to be complete.

clarification: The ball on one play for instance too lofty and thrown way out of bounds good coverage on the defense though. Another was when a five and out their were two recievers and one of them tipped the ball and the second caught it. clearly two recievers within a three yard radius isn't ideal. We looked very strong and very fast. When the team is whole and not against each other we will get a better picture of our line. IMO

This morning should be a good judge. The soft lob I believe is what is wanted by the coaches, I may be wrong, but when I was there, that is what they instructed. Things may change as the players develop. The sprint pass puts players on levels on the same pattern, so 3-5yds seems right. Its tough to cover both, you must remember as the entire first team is together, the pass routes will be more crisp, with better separation.

As of now from what i heard, spencer is at center and noseguard, and doing a pretty good job..so nick will have to work for his spot back
