Well for the past several weeks the wife and I had planned to make the trip to Stonecrest in Prestonsburg as a birthday trip for her. Well I called today and they are having a tournament on Saturday the 23rd which is the day we have to travel.
I am asking for recommendations to a nice course within about 2 hours drive of the Russell area. I would like to find a nice, secluded course that wonders through the woods and offers nice scenery and privacy. (she hates to be surrounded by groups of people and she likes to play at her own pace)
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Paintsville, Raven Rock, or Mountain Pub-Links Golf Course. Each are spectacular courses. Paintsville is one of the oldest courses in the state as Raven Rock is probably the newest, don't know much about the history of Mountain Pub-Links but I have played their.
Paintsville is almost like two different courses as the front 9 are mostly hills and the back 9 mostly flat with ponds and the river. You also get the chance to drive your cart across the old swinging bridge to the back 9.
Haven't played at Raven Rock but I've heard good things, its very similar to StoneCrest. Raven Rock is located in Jenkins, Kentucky.
Mountain-Pub Links Golf Course is outside of Pikeville in the Johns Creek area, and is a nice course that is much like Paintsville but not nearly as nice. Its a fun course to play.

Midee I highly suggest Eagle Ridge or whatever it is called at Yatesville, it is ten times nicer than StoneCrest and has beautiful mountain scenery and is a jaw dropping course. If you have not played their I highly recommend it over StoneCrest.

I played Eagle Ridge twice last year and while I loved the layout I hated the fact that they were losing the course through the summer. We played in June and it was cart path only and you could hear yourself walk across the fairways and we tried again in August, played about 3 holes and went back home.
Has it been reseeded yet?
BlackcatFootball If you have not played it yet I would suggest Hidden Cove out in Grayson. It is probably one of the nicest if not the nicest in the area.

Hidden Cove is spectacular.
Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences with Old Silo in Mt Sterling?

Great course but not in great shape. Their famous 99 bunkers rarely get worked!

Gibson Bay-Richmond-WAYYYYYYYY LONG
Old Silo is usually a consensus #1 in the state. It's in Mt. Sterling.

I played a nice course last weekend outside of Columbus called "The Woodlands". Comparable to Hidden Cove @ Grayson.
