No more 3rd party chin strap covers- (Nike, Under Armor), and no head rags or caps under the helmets. This is a big one.
This increased the chance of the helmets coming off in a game.
Romans 14:11
It is written: " 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.' "

I hated those covers anyways, they always chafed my chin and irritated the skin, lol. Once they got sweat on them you would want to take it off ASAP, be it in a game or at practice.

I always wear a cover over my chin strap. It helps it stay on better for me and its a lot more comfortable to. I'll take it off when the refs make me during the games.

I think its a stupid rule personally.

Take It Off Before The Game, unless you like setting the bench for illegal equipment. Just saying,,,, young man , make right choices.

What about the hard Under Armor chin straps? Are the legal?

Usually the refs walk around during warmups and inspect and all that. Tell people to pull their knee pads down to cover their knees, etc. If they tell me to then I will.

And I guess a sweaty bald head or a huge fro doesn't do that.

I agree. I always wear a chin strap cover and I don't see a problem with them. Oh well.

First flag for illegal equipment is 15 yards and a personal fowl. The second call on the same kid is ejection, 15 yards for personal fowl. This came from a white hat at work. They are looking at these rules really hard this year. The annual meeting displayed something like 90 percent of the helmets that came off had either a chin strap cover or a skull cap. The slickness of the cap and the wetness of the chin strap cover increased the chances of the items NOT staying where they are suppose too.
Hey not my call, but the state picked up on it and now they are illegal.
I do not let my kids wear them either in JFL, if it is a safety issue in high school then I sure do not want my younger kids playing with them. That makes sense to me.
