Harlan County vs. Letcher Central

A month to go until the big game, a lot of hype and sounds like a big crowd lets hear some predictions!

This game could be the start of something big. It seems to me these schools have all the ingredients in place to form a fierce rivalry!

1. Location- Bordering counties with no schools in between
2. Coaching- Tow legendary head coaches
3. History- Both schools are the products of consolidation
4. Enrollment- Both schools will ultimately be in the same class and district
5. Fanbase- Both fanbases are taking huge pride in their schools

exaclty, harlans first game ever, bringing there entire fanbase from a bordering county, and the first game ever in this rivarly, looking to be a knock down drag out game

I really dont think i can possible make a prediction because i havent seen the team yet. I also do not know who all is going to be playing for the team.

Of course I have nothing to base that on since we haven't played a game. We do have a talented bunch of young men though. Good things are gonna happen for the Black Bears. I can't wait to see what happens when you get all of Harlan County cheering on one team. Can't wait!!!!:letsparty

haha the tailgating and ribs are gonna be the only excitement that the harlan co. fans are gonna have, but unless you get there at about 5 there is gonna be no parking. Yes you are gonna see an old fashion tail whipping but by the cougars:argue: . I'm not sayin there not gonna have a good team but when it comes to the Harlan and Letcher game its gonna be a real beat down:redboxer: . The cougars are gonna show Harlan what a consolidated team is all about!! :1:

I also forgot to predict that I will be car sick after traveling across Whitesburg mountain. Sad

We may just tailgate right there on top of the mountain! Seriously though, is the parking that limited over there? I haven't had the pleasure of seeing your new field. I can NOT wait to though!

yeah i know rivalry right off the bat lol...no theres alot of parking its just we have so many fans that come out to watch us the parking lot gets filled fast an with all of your fans coming its gonna be crazy...most of the time people have to park on top of the hill at the soccer fields and walk down to the field

haha sorry i seen this and just had to reply to it...you dont think the letcher boys aint flat out mean? most of us are raised in hollers or in the middle of knowhere..that can take a hit? over here we dont take hits we give them and we are known to put the hurt on teams..so our ambulance service is great because we always sending people to the hospital lol

My guess is that which ever team wins this game will be overrated. Both teams will be good, but not great this season IMO.

I dont think either of the teams are "OVERRATED". It will be a heck of a game.

LCC is gonna put a whoop`on`em and its gonna come through the air. But i expect to see alot of sloppy play out of both teams till they get the bugs worked out. Don`t know what HCC has yet but im gonna bet on a good running game. Thing is LCC is gonna return a decent defense thats a plus but HCC could fair better if Lcc new recievers are duds. Recievers will decide the game. If LCC cannot pass then its gonna be close. I look for them to try and establish a short passing game early then open up with the option for Banks and try to get somebody freed`up down field for the dagger. Hoping that with these new wideouts they have worked on speed and deception. One bonus for HCC is that Letcher county teams always have a bad start especially the season opener. Im not sure why but it has always been a plague.

Whitesburg and Neon were never bad in season openers. LCC is 2-1 in season openers. Two wins against Estill County by over 35 points each and a big loss to Hazard last year. And Letcher Central ran the ball a lot more than they passed it last year so I don't know what you're talking about with all this damge through the air stuff. Rolleyes

It was 43-20 something. A close score but not a very close game. Turnovers killed us but really we just got flat out beat. Period.

What im reffering to is now its a new team. I will be glad if they can run the ball but don`t look for anything special.. Since 1996 Whitesburg lost 5 season openers out of 10 and Neon lost 6. But the stats do favor a slow start. I am not counting LCC`s record which is 2-1. Im only using the information given me from the past. I am by no means living in the past but defaulting to statisics to give my opinion.If you were offended please exept my formal apology!!!! Im on your side go Cooguhhss!!!
