Your being quite bias with your answer... has to be Zach Lewis of Clay County. Banks is good and has a big body, but Lewis has put up some amazing numbers two seasons in a row.

Lewis is a good QB im not saying he isn't...but to me a great qb does not just throw the ball they need to be able to throw, run, an make decisions fast. if Banks see's he has no receiver open he wont throw it away he takes off running an gets all he can out of it, Lewis will run it but when he thinks he is gonna get hit he slides that aint a true qb to me...but like i said Lewis is good but i say Banks is better

The difference in numbers has been due in large part to the fact that Clay County has thrown the football a lot more than LCC has.

I like both quarterbacks. Lewis in the Perry Central showed a different side with the option game which just caught Perry Central off all game. A smart quarterback slides because he does not want to get injured. Its ok to take a few chances but if the game is close there is no need to take chances at getting hurt. Whats more important a few extra yards or your staring quarterback?

So Steve Young wasn't a true QB?? That is the most obsurd comment I've ever seen someone post on this board. Their not RB's or WR's. Their job is to get the ball to the skill players. Anyway, did you not see Zach run the option last year.
#13
Yea, saw him run it at LCC and the results were a team defeat.
#14
Zack Lewis

yes sometimes there job is 2 be a RB! and yes i seen him run the option but i only seen it work against Perry Co. did u see him run it against LCC? it never worked because when he had the ball and seen a defender coming at him he would not think about pitching it he would ball up an get hit!

I don't know how much you know about Clay County football, but their O line last year was made up of 1 true linemen. 1 kid was the backup QB and was moved to left guard. The right tackle had never played anywhere but RB his whole life. The night at Perry Central wasn't a good night to judge the running game either. When the dew hit the turf it was like they were ice skating. Banks is a terrific QB, but face the facts, he will not play there in college. Atleast not at the same level that Lewis will.
#17
Wasn't Lewis district POY 2 years in a row?
#18
Tough question.Lewis is a very good pro style QB and has put up some big numbers in a pass happy offense.Banks is a dual threat QB that is just as good at what he brings to the table for his spread option attack. So in conclusion this question is a matter of opinion because the QB position has evolved into two categories, dual threat and pro style.

blaming the line is no excuse they had time to practice an get better at that position...you say Banks will not play QB in college? or at the same level? he has letters that are hand written from Louisville and letters from Marshall an all kinds of bigtime colleges asking him to come and play for them so you face the facts Banks WILL play there in college and WILL be at that level!!!

Lewis and Banks recieved co-offensive player of the yr this past season

Your right he wont play on the same level as Lewis..it will be a much higher level..Lewis has one dimension as a QB the long ball i havent seen his consitency at hitting the short routes. His recievers bail him out most the time..Banks Ussally makes his recievers look outstanding by putting the ball where it needs to be

All I know is at the state finals this season, Lewis got the D-8 POY award. Look it up on the KHSAA website

So under you philosophy, the NFL is full of fake QB's, sounds like Zach Lewis is in pretty good company to me.

We were not members of the KFCA last year and therefore could not recieve any awards. Our staff joined this year so we will be eligible for the POY award and Coach of the year award.

Both kids are fun to watch and both give it all they have for their respective teams. A team SHOULD be measured by it's success. Two years ago Lewis led Clay to a win over Letcher so he gets the nod for06. Last year Banks led Letcher to two wins over Clay so he gets the nod for 07. I think of both kids as leaders and am proud that both of them are mountain products.I wish both of them next year and in college as well

Zach Lewis.

hey like i said that is my opinion on a true QB an yeh i hate it when the NFL QB's slide but hey whats it matter there getting paid millions

The Biggest arm in the mountains no question is Zach Lewis.. He has the chance to be states best of all time. Best dual threat in the Mountains Charlie Banks. Theses young men get the chance to go at it one maybe two more times before moving on. Looking back on Hillard's success with QB`s now thats something in itself. I look for a much more reserved and mature Banks this season. and i look for more ground game just from what the defense will show him.

Banks had no hype until last season. Lewis has been dealing with the pressure for sometime. Banks faced down the fears and was victorious. Both athletes showed levels of maturity and leadership far beyond what is expected of their peers. Difference will likely be receivers ability when these two meet again... We honor them with our praises.

Great post! Very respectful to both and your comments seem to be right on.
With a new year comes added pressure. Banks, to lead his team to another district title and Lewis dealing with a coaching change, as well as the Couch shadow.
In the end, both will be fine and will make their programs and their fans proud.
