Mavericks Head Coach, Avery Johnson Fired
#1
Worst mistake that Mark Cuban could have made firing such a good & young NBA coach. I know that the addition of Kidd really hurt the Mavs but he had just got in Dallas, it was a bad trade, give Johnson sometime during the off-season and he would have Kidd used to the Mavs half-court style of play.

I agree with you blackcat, this is a horrible decision.

This is dumb!! Avery Jonhson was a good coach for the Mavs. I don't know what Mark Cuban was thinking, but he must think its right.

He expects championships just like the Yankees. Johnson wasn't delivering so he had to make a choice, and I don't blame him!

The Mavericks have not been the same since they lost to the Heat in Finals a couple of years ago and last year when they lost to Warriors

Yep they are like the Yankees...LOL...expect the championship ring, but they ain't wearing it...Cuban should've given him a chance. Avery has the potential to be a very good coach, and he was a good fit for the Mavs to...JMO...

I agree with you. He was a good fit for the Mavs.

This is stupid! You dont fire a coach that wins 73% of his games.

Bad move by Cuban.

I would have to agree with ya there. I mean you could go 82-0 in an NBA season but if you dont have what it takes in the postseason then you get the boot. They had the finals in their grasp a few years ago with a 2-0 lead over Miami then to lose 4 straight. Went 67-15 last year only to get the 1 seed in the west and be knocked out by Golden State. Then this year losing 4-1 to New Orleans. He couldn't get it done in the postseason and the Kidd trade IMO was a bust. They had a great PG for the future in Devin Harris but now hes gone. This team reminds me so much of Phoenix, a 50+ win team in the regular season but blows it in the playoffs.
