What has happened to Seth Profitt, Russ Dotson and Josh Rison? The three are not getting nearly enough work to be consistent on the mound. The majority of the pitching is being done by Brewer and Kinser and three freshmen. It is good to get work for freshmen but at the expense of three veteran pitchers. The three veteran pitchers have lost alot of confidence on the mound due to lack of use. And that is just pitching, does anyone have a clue what's up?

It's all up to what the coaches want, and who's really getting the job done. Daniel Kinser pitched against a very good Harrison County team, kept his pitch count at around 85 and held HC to 4 base hits. The last time Russ Dotson started on the mound, which was against Breathitt, he walked in the first 4 or 5 runs of the game. Freshman Morgan Reed came in and did a fine job of keeping the game within reach giving the Pirates a chance. Same with Josh Rison. Last start (Fleming) he walked bases loaded with no outs and gave up 4 runs in the first till Daniel Kinser had to come in and get them out of a jam. Logan Morton, Joe Scott and Morgan Reed(all freshman) have done a terrific job on the mound for the Pirates this year. Does this answer your question?

The freshman will be there for three more years, the varsity experience they get now will only help them next season and for years to come. Makes perfect sense to me. Brewer and Kinser pitched varsity as freshman and sophomores, and so did Benningfield, Muncie, Stamper, and Spangler before them.

I think you also got to give some of Powell's opponents credit. It's not always the pitchers imploding. Some of these teams are getting better and can't be overlooked. They're capable of beating some of the big boys when #1 isn't throwing. No panic in Pirate land.

Sounds like you need to get an application and coach somewhere yourself.

That is a very good point. The more varsity experience the freshman get, the better they will in the future.
