Shep almost perfect, and Jordan Miller drives in 5 runs. Keeton gets win #500 in his career,
#3
A little closer than I would have expected.

I'm guessing that Lopez pitched for Morgan County.
#4
Never in doubt , Morgan gets 1 hit.
#5
Congrats! LC is tough!

Shepherd hit 90 quite a few times in this game. He is a phenominal pitcher and he is just a freshman. A lot of Dawgs came up big today. Hayes was 4-4 with 3 doubles. Cyrus was on about every time.

90? lol I was standing behind home plate where 3 radar guns were and they had him topping out at 87 and consistantly hitting 84. His off speed was hitting 10 to 12 mph off that. Morgan Co. put him in play the whole game but were just at people. His defense played good behind him and the right field made an outstanding catch to save at least a double maybe a triple.
Hats off to the kid though he did throw a nice game.

Well weather he did or did not hit 90 how many freshman can throw that hard and pitch that well in the region. I will say not very many. Heck not that many other kids that are in the upper grades ever hit 87 before they get out of high school. So hats off to Shep!!!!!!!!

Nobody has ever denied that, but why must everyone super exaggerate everything the kid does? I dont know what you are referring to as "throwing that well in the region". Not understanding that. This aint exactly the toughest region around.

But you are right, even hitting 84 is exceptional for a freshman. There is no doubt he is a talent. But to put it in perspective, 90 as opposed to 87 is about the same difference as 80 opposed to 87. The higger the velocity gets, the more difficult it is to add one more MPH. 90 is not light years away from 87 but there is a very distinct difference..

Well as far as that goes pitches that well in the State. No he is not the best pitcher in the state but he is up there with them. All you want to do is post neg about anything anyone post.

What ever in this world are you rambling on about? I said he was a talent and complimented him on being able to even hit 84. I did not say one negative word about him in any way, shape, form, or fashion. All I did was post the honest truth, seeing that OffTheHook confirmed that Triple Crown was waaaaay off on his statement. I just asked why someone just cant post the truth without getting the facts all distorted and super exaggerated.

I'll throw in my 2 cents worth.....(I too was behind those guns...)
Noone said he threw consistently at 90.
Two guns on him showed him HITIING 90 twice and 91 three times, but threw CONSISTENTLY at 86-88 for 7 innings. T-bone was still clocking him at 88 in the 7th inning.

Another good showing for Shep and kudos to the defense behind him.

So , are you and OffTheHook going to slug it out now??? Those are pretty big descrepencies. One showing an average of 84 and topping out at 87, and the other hitting 91 and working 86-88. That's quite a difference and light years apart.Smile

I will throw in my two cents , is this the same kid that was only able to hit 84 twice in the regional tournament not quite a year ago and was down in the 70's by the 4th inning, and now is hitting 91 and hit 90 five times and still slinging 88 through 7 innings? That's quite an improvement.

No, not my game. Just stating what I and several others saw.

See there you go just trying to stir things up. The kid gave up playing basketball this winter to hit the weights and worked his butt off and this just shows how much he worked.

Well evidently it has paid off. I am not unfamiliar with kids doing that very same thing to acheive that very same goal. Besides basketball is such a waste to begin with. Glad to see that he is smart enough to realize that.

This young man is truly gifted. The sky is the limit for this young man if he keeps his head on straight and can do the right things. Congrats on the win and best of luck for the rest of the year.

Thank you very much. Shep was on his game and it showed.

Not trying to stir anything up, nor take anything away from a very good kid, but, I know that in the seventh, Iwas standing beside T-Bone, I know what the gun said, I am not putting it out here, but just tell me how many pitches did T-bone gun on him in the seventh?
BTW congrats LC on the big win.

I honestly don't know that answer-T-bone just told me he had him at 88 in the 7th? I think his total game count was like 79 pitches??

OK. I watched Tbone gun 3 pitches to the first batter in the 7th. I didn't see him gun after that batter, but what I saw was 81 at that is impressive alone.

I wonder how many 15 year olds are out there that can actually pitch (not just throw) at 90+? I mean in the country?

I'd have to say not many if any at all.

I wonder how many people actually know the difference between an off speed pitch versus a change of speed pitch versus a true fast ball and how many TRUE fast balls are actually thrown in a game?

A good pitcher knows the difference and knows how and when to throw each one so not every batter gets the fast ball and not every reading on a gun is the fast ball.
