The reason I was upset at first was b/c Butcher and I are really close and it just felt he was walking out on the school and program and I apologize for the first statement. He is a great person and after talking to him on the phone he really wishes it could be different even took it as far to invite me to the banquet. Now he will be coaching at Mason next year and that was not in the works UNTIL AFTER his wife had lost her job, a meeting with a few people and the Boys Sweet Sixteen. The person who has ran him off has had a personal Vendetta against Pike Central since McCoy became principal. Once again everyone it was NOT his decision and I apologize for the first statement my emotions got the best of me just as they have for all of you at some point in time. We say things we do not mean and I did this but Butcher and Cara have both forgave my negligence. I LOVE BUTCHER AND HIS WIFE WITH EVERYTHING IN ME AND IT IS GOING TO BE HARD TO SEE THEM GO CONSIDERING THE CIRCUMSTANCES. I have backed him since the beginning and will continue to SINCE I HAVE NOW found the TRUTH. TO THAT HIGHER UP I HOPE YOU READ THIS B/C ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS SCREW YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They way you say it everything sounds so messed up and it sounds as if Butcher has been done wrong in this.I hate to watch a good coach leave like that and I wish him the best of luck at Mason County next year.

Tammey's foundation went to phelps.
The only thing SHE can claim is haley..
So with that statement you should say your sorry for that to those girls like ,Coleman, Pennington ,Ratliff ,Harris and Thompson
Butcher came into play with an already well coached team. handed to him on a silver platter. and now that his "coaching" ability HAS to be used for the lady hawks...he can't ..lol plain and simple.he doesn't know how or want to rebuild a team of his own...as for Haley Ratliff being better because of butcher??? come on now....really! she had been well coached wayyyyyy before butcher...
just my opinion here....

I just wanted to say again, I wish Coach Butcher and his wife all the best at Mason County, I hope that he has just as good talent there as he did at PC. Yes, I agree with everyone that Coach Butcher is a class act person and he is a good and decent person. He will do well where ever he is at.
As everyone should know, most school systems is all about POLITICS and that is so sad, but that is the way it is. It was the same thing that happened to Tussey now is happening to Butcher. Two good coaches gone.
You know it doesn't matter who played under who, all we can say is that Pike Central Girls Basketball was built from the ground up with two good coaches and the program has been great. I hope that it will continue with the new coach coming in.
Yes, our emotions can get the best of us in certain situations and we do say things and don't mean it that way or comes out the wrong way. But regardless PC has lost two great coaches in my opinion.

Your source not so reliable. Butcher was assured tenure for next year and that is why he was teaching at two different schools because they worked out staffing to actyually help him. Do you really think he will ever stay anywhere for any period of time?

Tussey's foundation????? What rock have you been living under? She never developed a player she ever coached. They flat out walked in the door and could play.

Its been in the works and I have thought it and kinda known since before the LIT.Well then you should not make a statement like that unless you are willing to back it up with something. Generally an employee does a job, and then the employer pays said employee for services rendered. If employee does what his job function describes, and the employer then pays said employee for services rendered, then all should be fair and square on both sides at the end of the day, and then neither party is indebted to the other. Would that not be correct?

Yeah, the source is reliable. It was promised, but taken back. And why would anyone take a head coach out of their building mid-season? Think about it.

Everyone shouldn't be so shocked. It's Board politics at its best. Yes he was teaching at two different schools and was promised tenure. However, the board went back on their promise. It's happened for years in Pike County and will continue to happen.
If the people of Pike Central don't like what has happened, they should voice their opinion in the next board race. If you want to see some squirming from people at the board, wait until the board changes next election. Payback is @@@@.
I wish Coach Butcher the best and you can guarantee he didn't go looking to leave Pike Central.

Here is just my opinion. He was handed an excellent player, not an excellent team. But most head coaches are handed nice teams. Tussey developed Haley, Stafford developed Lowe, Phelps developed Slone. These Jr. High programs develop these players but it takes a good coach to develop the team. His record speaks for itself. How long was Tussey there? What did she do in all of those years? Speaking of getting a team handed on a silver platter, you speak so highly of your coach who just received the same thing.

He and one of the BOE members sat down and the agreement was IF he went to Kimper and worked half a day then he would be promised the tenure that he needed for job security. The way I am taking it just right before the girls state tournament he was brought into a board member office was sat down and told "I do not remember saying it like that, maybe you should find something more secure." So at the state tournament Mason Co. approached him about the coaching job. He took a visit with Mason Co. and that is where he will be going. Last night on the phone he and Kara both were very emotional. Now please tell me how my source is not reliable. Yes I think he will be at Mason for quite sometime now, I thought he would leave Pike Central with in the next two or three years just happened to work out sooner to where he had to.

Isn't it illegal for Board Members to get involved with personnel? Something to think about.

Now Haley was a great player when Tussey was heading up the program. However, I just believe we saw a big change in her in the last to years of her high school carrier. It was no longer the underclassmen Haley Ratliff show but was a team. Once Butcher got a hold of her she was a complete player.

John Blackburn and Frank Welch was responsible for the new school and you can mark that down.
Until Waggner and his cronies are gone this will continue to happen in Pike County

FIRST of all i never mentioned our coach....
our coach didn't have a winning team with a winning season when he took the job.. and for a first year head coach he had to overcome quite a bit. HIS COACHING ABILITY has been proven with the Lady Hornets and their fantastic season...

This will be the last I speak of it. We might should start a new thread. He had to overcome quite a bit? What? Coach Campbell didn't have the opportunity to coach the Riley kid. If she had her they would have had a winning season. His coaching ability will be proven once riley, hall, pruitt, whitt leave. By that time he will have had two years to build the program. Until then, he is just coaching what she built and what people bring in. Doing what you were criticizing Coach Butcher for.
However, staying on topic, it's a shame for this to happen to Coach Butcher. It doesn't matter if people like him or not, the BOE shouldn't play games with peoples livelihood. I wish him the best at Mason County. In a few years, he will look back and see they actually did him a favor by giving him to opportunity to leave Pike Co. And the pits of @@@@ await those who mistreat people like that.
Just my opinion.

Oh i completely agree with all of that I was just making the statement that at least Wagner did not take that away from us lol. Blackburn and Welch did a lot for our school system even though there was politics in that regime as well. But not nearly as much.

Please don't feel honored. I find it hard to believe you don't know much when it comes to politics. Just because I have an opinion doesn't mean I have knowledge of the ins and outs. People shouldn't be so quick to criticize coaches, me included. Half of the people commenting against Coach Butcher have no idea the time he spent with those girls. He has to be given credit for their success. Tammy should be given some credit as well. Their jr. high coaches, little league coaches, parents, etc. It's not all one person because of success, nor is it all one person because of failure. Coach Butcher did an excellent job no matter what he inherited.
