Does anyone else think it's a little hard to cheer for Hazard knowing they have two players from Bell County who start? Dakota Euton to Scott County, this one over here, that one over there... what, exactly, is the KHSAA for?

No it isn't hard to cheer for Hazard! Those boys MOVED TO HAZARD because their father was hired at the high school. What did you expect to happen...the boys live in an apartment in Bell County by themselves and finish high school? Be reasonable! They transferred legally, it was approved by the KHSAA and there were no problems with them being accepted by the students, the school or the fans!

and to speak of Euton is kind of sad. Hog j/w have you read up on gthe situation he and his family is in. His father lost his job and was going to have to move out of state. To make it an easier transition on his son his father did not take either job, one in NC and I think the other was in FL. His father worked for a company b-4 hand 20 some years ago and they offered him a job in Scott Co.

Dont kid yourself though, He didnt move to Hazard because he got a job, that is what they wanted KHSAA to think. They moved because he knew his son had a chance if he played for Hazard and thats why he took the job.

I cant say I blame them though. Any kid would be lucky to get to play for one of the best coaches in Ky in Al Holland. They almost went to Knox and played with Cody Miller and probably would have went to the state there also. They definitely did come for basketball and dont be surprised if they are gone after this year when his dad gets an offer he cant refuse. The team would not only get a good coach but 2 good players also. There have already been offers and I would be surprised if he doesnt take one. Recruiting and transferring are part of basketball and no matter what is said or done about it that wont stop it because there are legal ways you can do it.

If you only understood the situation that these individuals were under. I dont know much about the Euton situation, but Coach Whitaker moved because he was hired to be a Coach. He resigned as Bell County's coach and was trying to get a Principal's job at Knox Central High School. Things fell through with that and with a limited amount of time left before the school year began Coach Holland offered him a position on the coaching staff. This move may have had the intent on what was best for the two boys, but he was in need of a job and took the best available option!

Hey I dont blame Hazard because what they did won them a regional championship.
The part about Euton is somewhat true...His dad did take another job but the move was truly for basketball reasons...Read the article in the Lexington Herald were he said his son could play against better competition and talked to all of the advantages of playing at Scott County. This happens all the time in Scott and they have had two MR Basketballs transfer in there in Rick Jones from Corbin and Hundly from Lex....Eutons dad is looking at improving his chances at Mr Basketball and putting him on the big stage...
By the way just to prove the point the job his dad got is in Lexington but his dad is moving to Georgetown instead of Lexington....

What does Robert Warren have to do with this, he is not Whitaker's son?

Is it hard to cheer for UK since all their players isnt from KY?

technically he is.
he was adopted.

Rob Warren lives with coach Whitaker and has for several years as Whitaker is his legal guardian.

I don't think it is hard to cheer for hazard. They are a good team who worked hard for what they got. They earned their trip to state. I think what is hard to understand and cheer for is some parents (not from hazard) who think the world revolves around basketball. They live and breath basketball, not realizing that the majority (actually all) the kids from this area are not going to play pro basketball, or even D1 ball. Hey UK96 I thought you were not going to get on here any more after Knott Co. beat JBS.

As far as I am concerned Coach Whitaker has 2 sons...Josh and Rob. Both are fine young men and both are BULLDOGS. Every time I have seen them play this season they have been wearing blue and gold with BULLDOGS on their uniforms. The Bulldogs are a TEAM, and they play as a team and I have no trouble at all yelling and cheering for my team.
GOOO BULLDOGS!!!!
GOOO BULLDOGS!!!!

Its not hard for me to be for Hazard or Scott County. All three transfers referred to are very well within the rules.

Is it going to be hard for you to be for Knott County next year when they have several JBS players???????

I almost passed out when I saw Randy Napier at the state tournament with a Hazard shirt on and a Hazard Hat. He said if you cant beatem joinem.

Do you really believe this analogy works? I isn't buying it.

I don't think it is hard at all to cheer for Hazard. Just because coach Whitaker got a job at hazard why hold it against them. What is funny about the situation is that we all have forgotten about him interviewing for the PCC job and the turned him down. Talk about egg in your face lol.

Believing it is not an option; it is nonsensical to compare the college recruiting process to high school basketball... your caring or not caring is not relevant to the accuracy of your analogy.

Not really. If they make it to the Sweet Sixteen again next year, I will cheer for them because they are from the 14th region.
